Because the average viewer thinks if you win the most challenges and are shown to work hard at camp you deserve to win and anyone who votes you out is a dirty player.

Mikey set himself up as the arch-enemy of the ousiders, which meant he had a very smart player in Tracy gunning for him So Joel got to decide his fate.

What does it matter so long as it still helped a woman win? Yeah, there were smart men who got booted early, but that's because they played way too hard. The women who made it to the end in Micronesia played things just right and made little to no mistakes. Especially Parvati, who was at the center of THREE alliances and kept them all going...

Completely agree. It's sad when people like Mikey B get thrown on a tribe full of idiots. He knew how to play the game, he just played too hard too early.

I always thought when it comes down to it, it doesnt matter how smart or how well you know how to play the game. if you are thrown on a tribe of morons, you are always in danger of getting voted out.

The general rule for winning votes in the F2/3 is:

Strategic Skill > Social Skill > Challenge Skill > Survival or Providing Skill

(The only exception to that rule is ASS)

So,

If a strategic mastermind is in the F2/3, the strategic mastermind always win -- the strategic mastermind always beat all other types of players, i.e., social gamers, challenge hogs, and survivalists/providers.

Well now that you mention it, likely Candice could have won had Jenny made the F9 over Jonathan.

Purple rock to see who leaves, if Raro wins, F3 is Adam/Candice/Parvati and Candice is most likeable of the three. Jenny votes against Adam/Parvati for betrayal.

But her loss in the game was just the luck of the draw and her own mistakes. Sticking with Aitu would have been a clean, crisp game.

Candice could have won maybe...but after the extended jury, i doubt anyone from Aitu would have voted for her...Yul, Becky, Sundra, and Ozzy all felt totally betrayed...she would of had to get most of the other votes (very hard to do)

Yes, just like she could have won with the mutinee. She could have very easily won had Jonathan been booted over Jenny OR had there been a traditional 10-person merge/no bottle twist OR had Raro not lost both post-mutiny challenges.

Any of those scenarios change, and Candice is in a great spot to win. But she couldn't forsee any of those happening.

I remember seeing a "Can a man ever win Survivor again?" thread when 3 women won in a row, so I figure the opposite would be just as relevant now that 3 men have won in a row.

My theory: As long as they keep recruiting, men will win. Recruits aren't as passionate for the game as applaicants, thus it makes it really easy for a man to take control. When everybody plays to win (Amazon/Pearl Islands just to name a few) then it becomes very hard for a male to become a succesful...
