Seriously, they just let them choose their own songs every week and have less theme weeks. If they want the audience to hear some truly spectacular singing, let them sing what they like best.

"Imagine" isn't under the same publishing deal as the Lennon-McCartney Beatles' songs (neither are George Harrison's, which is why they could get "Something" for Taylor.)

I think this whole 25 songs deal is a crock. What they do is let the chosen ones pick from the list of good songs like Yesterday and Let It Be, and the losers have to pick from shit like "Hey Bungalow Bill" and "What Goes On."

Restricting the list of songs this much is just too "Rock Star."

Also, the new rule that they can't sing the same song is bogus. I often like when people pick the same song, just for comparison's sake.

And I believe AI's had rights to Lennon's "Imagine" for a couple seasons now.

I don't know if i'm glad, since Brooke did an amazing job and gave IMO the best performance, but Hernandez could have stayed. <3

Amanda chose either Eleanor Rigby or Come Together, probably. Glad she had to perform the other song, and David C./Carly/Amanda all did great regardless.

That hat's probably just full of "Archtard" pieces of paper in case he ever needs it to get...

I know it's not Lennon/McCartney, but was 'Imagine' part of this deal? I could actually imagine each contestant given 2 of the songs, and Little Baby Jesus Archuleta given 'Imagine' and one other selection to use at his disposal in the future.

Since they presumably shelled out a good chunk of change it actually makes perfect sense that they had such a paltry assortment of songs AND that they'll probably want to use up as many as possible. It's gonna be a sad week for some people considering it'll be like an early "producers' choice" round. I bet I know who's doing "Yesterday". Also bet I know who's getting the pimp slot again to spew out said performance.

I wonder if it is gonna be 11 people with 12 songs to choose from now this week. Or if they will be able to do songs that other people did last week.

When it was announced that they got clearance to use the Lennon/McCartney songbook I guess we were supposed to assume that it meant they had clearance to use only 25 of the songs from it.

Debra Byrd has gone on record saying that this week the contestants only have a list of 25 Beatles songs to choose from.
