I don't think it has anything to do with balls. IMO it would be sheer stupidity to kill off major characters. Why kill Jack who is pivotal to the story of Lost? The science/faith thing has been a running theme since the beginning - which is why I believe Locke is not gone for good. Well last season Charlie died. That was major to me. Locke "died". Michael died. (expected, but still an original Lostie) Jin died. (as far as we know) I'd say they have balls....
