Sometimes I like to pretend I am.

However, one time me and my co-workers went to Applebee's late...the place was dead, and we got shitty service. But what cracked me up the most was the server thought we were a secret shopper....To the point that he kept saying "If you're secret shoppers, I wanna do everything right."

Then why the fuck did we get such shitty service if you thought we were secret shoppers?

A few years back, I worked sporadically as a shopper for bars. Just the Bennigans/Chilis/Applebees type places, not nightclubs. Would watch and note how bartender poured (over/short), whether or not they underrang drinks, etc. Also made note of whether or not either they or cocktail servers ignored certain types of patrons. Sometimes as a joke I would try to order a Screaming Viking.

rk, I'm sure they must have shoppers but I've never seen one come up on my available work. I went to IHop once though.

I got a call yesterday to fill in for someone who had to cancel last minute. I'll spend about 25 minutes, taste a burger & fries, and make $16 on Sunday. I did it for a bit, they paid by the job depending on the company, and the jobs are as needed. Not a great way to have dependable income, and some surveys require you shop the store at ceratin times on certain days, and fill out tons of paperwork

I have done a lot of "Mystery Shopping" in the last couple of years.
It's interesting in that it gives you insight into what the company you are shopping for expects.
Who knew that McD's REQUIRES a napkin be included for every one item ordered.

I worked in retail for a few years, and dealt with 3 or 4 mystery shoppers. Maybe it was the company I worked for, but they ALWAYS returned the item they bought. How the employee handled the return was part of the report they completed and sent to corporate.
