The "pre-premiere marketing strategy" might have worked so well that it failed.

There was not a lack of preseason Mole promotion. Anyone watching ABC would have had a hard time missing the quick cuts and enigmatic inserts intended to intrigue viewers into finding out more about the show. For a budget show it was a budget campaign. Two seconds here, five seconds there. ABC has taken down their dedicated site for The Mole along with the show's message board, nearly two months after the season finale. While this isn't unusual, shows like The Bachelorette, which ended around the same time, still have an active site. High School Musical, which ended a few weeks after The Mole, has also been removed from abc.com.
