Brian Highdick made a pact with the devil to allow his wife to get beaten up if he won.

He then promised, in case the devil reneged, to personally honor the contract himself.

The strangest thing about all of this is that, given that Brian was the devil, none of it was actually necessary.

Sandra sold her kids' souls to the devil after swearing on them to protect Fairplay or whoever.

Twila tried the same thing but I guess Sandra's kids are more evil than Twila's son so the devil didn't let Twila win. That, and Chris already has a reservation in the deepest level of hell after he sets a record for most lies told in any one life.

Tom of Survivor: Palau decided to casting for Survivor: Micronesia. He was declined after the last minute casting call along with other former Survivors.

The devil? May I suggest another theory.

Parvati was under the protection of the Hindu Goddess for whom she was named. Tired of how dominant the male principle had become on Survivor, the Goddess arranged so that everytime some bad guy intended harm to Parv it would rebound on him. This went especially for Fairplay and Jonathan who incurred bad Survivior karma on previous seasons.

Fairplay is intending to snake Parv ... suddenly he's overcome by the desire to quit....

It's obvious that winners of Survivor need a lot of luck to win. Some more than others.

Take Parvati, for instance. It can be argued that, had any of the five anomalous departures not taken place, she would have been toast. Had Fairplay stayed, she would have been the first booted. Had Chet happened, a fan would have won. Had Jonathan not been the victim of a Kirhoffer brain fart, she would've likely been either the victim of a thrown Airai challenge early or of a...
