Omg I still have more lol. He told me that Survivor 3 was set to be filmed in Palestine, but because of 9/11 they couldn't go there and changed the location to Africa instead. I bet Palestine would have been pretty interesting too. It's a landscape that Survivor has never been to before.

anyone else notice this? 9/11 happened long after Africa finished filming. Jordan was the season that got affected by 9/11 bringing us Marquesas...

While I believe that you may have met Erik, a lot of your information is either already known, inaccurate, or impossible for Erik to know. For example, the pay structure has been mentioned by several former survivors, drugs for chronic conditions (like anxiety disorders) ARE allowed, and Erik isn't a show runner or network head and wouldn't have access to anything but his opinion on how long the show will run. And the cameraman thing is really BS, because I lived across the hall...

For somebody who follows TV ratings closely, I can say that Survivor is still doing great in that area, the only show nowadays that consistently cracks 20 million is American Idol. Shows considered a hit are showing decline every year, like CSI averaging around 17 million and Desperate Housewives and Greys Anatomy averaging around 16 million this year.
