Getting cut by anything rusty can cause the disease. The shot hurts like hell and you have a painful lump on your arm for up to a week, but the good thing is you only need one every 10 years.

What exactly is tetanus? I know about lockjaw but how real is the threat? Sounds like CB had blood poisoning. I got my first tetanus shot in 50 years and had to go all over town looking for a doctor that actually had the vaccine. It didn't hurt, but I had that swollen golf ball reaction for a few weeks. Then the doctor's office manager had to bitch about ordering it because it costs $600 for ten vials and she'll never use the other nine. I hope she gets lockjaw.

after having a cat bite my twice and seeing the green/blue streaks of infection running up my arm within 6 hours, I would recommend getting a tetanus shot

and it was my own stupid (really stupid) cat that bit me when I taking him in to get his balls removed

I burned myself with a soldering iron at work and had to get one about six years ago... had an allergic reaction. Arm swelled up like softball sized was horribly red and hot to the touch, I was sick. Stupid tetnus. I don't know what the hell happens when I need another.

and yea can't you go to a health dept for the shot?

I hadn't had one since I left for college, but then a few years ago I was at my Dr. and they decided to check out my file and saw that I hadn't had one in ages, so they gave me one, and then when I was chilling in my car after the accident one of the ambulance people just climbed in and stabbed me before I could tell her I just had one a year ago.

so i'm all excited about volunteering at my local animal shelter but then they tell me i need a tetanus shot and that fucker is going to cost me $42.00 plus a $16.00 processing mother fuckin' feeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's already been a fuckin' shitty fuckin' week from hell and all i wanted to do was something good and now i can't because that's too much fuckni' money!!!
