I've always thought if I were to live in Texas it would be in Houston. And I'd go around calling it Hoostin like General Zod in Superman II.

Real estate is an obsession in Vancouver and people are under mass delusions. Everyone's banking on the Olympics and many are still playing the buy and flip game except now they're sitting on their investments since no one's buying. A major section of the downtown area has like an 80% vacancy because of this. Grrrrrrrrrrr. ....

CBRs were supposedly bred firstly to retrieve waterfowl and secondly to guard their master's catch. My first one only ever barked at two people and I've always wondered what was wrong with them. I have three now and they're all very protective, especially the oldest female.

Houston, like most big cities, has a sizeable number of people who've never worked in their lives and who rotate in and out of jail/prison most of their lives. And it's a really young city, so...

The theory is that as property values rise, petty theft increases . . . is this the case in Houston as well? I've never known CBRs to be particularly defensive but they have their instincts. My German pointer had a stranger-danger bark that scared the shit out of me. He refused to take food from anyone unless I touched it too and he'd block me off from men...

and Mr CBR caught some guys trying to break into our cars, they fled over the fence dropping their pager and flashlights - dogs are a good deterrant - all he had to do was yell and the dogs went bonkers and the guys skeddadled pretty fast

Mine, too, CBR. I'm planning on moving farther North over the summer, to get away from the trash. The other day, there were a few helicopters hovering far too close to my 'hood. I found out later knives and guns were drawn when a water baloon fight somehow went awry.

my part of town's a bit more dangerous since Katrina - lots of apartments north of us including some really ratty ones - and about 1-2 miles north of us is a murder hot spot

They were giving away a free piece of the grilled chicken at KFC last Monday. I tried it, and it tasted like utter shite. Absolutely horrendous.

I've never actually been to that Popeye's, but I drive by it quite a bit. Come to think of it, I've only eaten Popeye's maybe once or twice in my life. I just don't make a habit of getting fast food fried chicken.
