Robin's set was so good because she had Sal, Richard, Benjy and Artie help or write it for her. Lampinellie is funny but she is just doing a updated version of Don Rickles act. I liked the line " They should call you Van, because your sitting between a Dick and a Dyke.

Well, she is an insult comic, and she's not so different from Kathy, whereas Kathy's humor tends to be focused on celebrities (especially those who are tabloid fodder), Lisa's is on insulting every demographic by stereotypes. They definitely play to the same audiences.

It's not her actual JOKES that are funny, but rather the spectacle of getting to know her targets in the audience as she makes them squirm over the course of the show. It's their participation and reactions that make me laugh...

I thought Lisa was pretty funny the first time I saw her special. Seems like subsequent specials she just recycles the same type of joke over and over. I don't mind a good racist or gay joke but it seems that's all she does. It just loses its shock value for me after a couple times, as I've not heard her do anything but that. I think she is a funny woman and I get the appeal, but I just grew tired of the same type of joke over and over again.

Re-watched (most of) the Roast last night. Wasn't as enjoyable, but that is to be expected... I knew it wasn't the Saget Roast!

Giraldo, Cummings, and Gotfried were defintley tops with Ross and Garrett both very good.

It's obvious that Joan was really only there for a pay-day, which doesn't make her the first, but for her to go on record before the roast saying she hates Roasts, kind of takes me out of it.

Still an enjoyable Roast though.

Yeah, all that stuff about Joan, Melissa and even the selection of Kathy as roastmistress (when you know Lisa Lampanelli would've pulled no punches) really kind of lowers my opinion of the whole thing now. It's almost like a comedian paying his friends to be hecklers. Boo.

This is on tonight on Comedy Central.

I watched a Best of Comedy Central Roasts special, and anytime someone did a joke about Courtney Love, the camera would never go to her. It's like they couldn't show her image even though she agreed to be there at the time.
