Seasons 2,5, and 7 had a talented and diverse group of singers. To a lesser degree, so did season 4.

Season 4 and 7 are about equal in entertainment value though.

I'll take boring and talented over Mantasia (who is neither) anytime

She is talented cause she entertains.

there have been plenty of black women who were both interesting AND talented. We'd probably disagree over exactly...

As for Iluvbbsofun's comment about boring divas (Latoya, Lakisha, Melinda) I partially disagree but see your point. I'll take boring and talented over Mantasia (who is neither) anytime, but there have been plenty of black women who were both interesting AND talented. We'd probably disagree over exactly who they were, but certainly Jennifer Hudson qualifies.

I don't know why they'd want to do another AI3/6 either. They were by far the worst seasons. The reason AI2/5/7 were the most successful was that they had a diverse group. Most of the contestants were decent and we had rockers, divas, some country etc. In AI3/6 the only people that were contenders were divas and everyone else fell somewhere between mediocre or terrible.

They should want another Fantasia (asides from her not being a superstar now). She was one of the only things interesting about season 3. Nobody wants to watch a boring diva (LaToya, Lakisha, Melinda, etc).

I'd think finding some good ones ought to be the show's top musical scouting priority.

They think this means casting boring people like Lakisha and Melinda.

Rockstar could have had a long & successful run if Tommy Lee & Co hadn't stupidly picked Lukas Rossi. He was obnoxious and talentless. ANY of the other people in the top 7 of that group would have been a vastly better choice, even though I had serious doubts about some of them, like Ryan Star (sic).

Maybe I'm just fooling myself, but after Simon's open-mouthed look during "Bore Me," I've got to think he was kidding about looking for another...

Because they are morons.

And I doubt the talent base was much better in 2008 than it was in 2007, they just chose to focus on crappy singers....

Sanjaya's first decent performance was Cheek To Cheek (top 9 night).

It was his top 24 performance which was good. He didn't have a great performance until top 11 week (which was more due to the crying girl than him). Bathwater the next week was great.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough and You Really Got Me are two of the all-time worst performances on the show by ANYBODY

I just saw a Fox interview with Simon in Utah. They asked him about S8 and he said they were LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FANTASIA.

He also said the S7 people were boring as shit.
