I was just getting into this show when I saw the Borneo one, where he was invited to the local tribe's "celebration" and I heard him drop something about it being the "last Survivorman ever..." and I nearly choked. I have GOT to get this on DVD. It does make sense though that he can NOT keep this up forever. Considering the parasites and bugs and abuse he's put his body through over the course of filming this series, there's only so much the guy can take.

I'm only sad that the latest season only had ?3 new episodes and a recap.....tho I understand you can't exactly go out into the wild too many times, it must take a toll on the body....

I am loving this show. I watched the first season in its entirety and am now catching all the second season.

This guy is the perfect balance between crazy and sane. The choices he makes out there for his own survival, including knowing when to hang it all up and get to a warm bed vs. when to tough it out, are right on. His ability to know what would make good TV while he's out there -- the guys' a genius editor/producer/director of his own adventure. He's gotta win...

I started out by watching Man vs Wild... and loved it!!!
then I saw this one, and they were fairly comparable..
but then I heard about all the controversy with Bear... so now I just watch this one.. unless bear films some new epis.. then i'll watch them too! lol.

nuclear snake- What makes you not understand that this show is about HOW TO SURVIVE in the wild.

Survival includes EATING and i for one am glad they include what you can eat and the proper way to do so.

While Les is out there, he himself is part of the food chain too. It's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that he could become dinner himself

I'm an animal lover myself but i'm capable of seeing the difference between what he's doing...

He should have stated in his contract that he would not kill any animals. He even seemed remorseful about having to kill it, reasoning he was only doinjg it for the nourishment it provided. It would have been even more amazing had he been able to do it without having to kill it. The jungle has its set of laws of eat or be eaten. Unfortunately for that particular animal, it was being eaten by a human, instead of another creature. Like it or not, that's how the food chain goes.

I like the idea of dropping a vegetarian in the middle of nowhere and see what happens.

Still have not answered my question! Do you kill bugs and mosquitoes? Do you have a bug spray? Because killing those animals is animal cruelty! Or when you mean animals, you only mean those except bugs? (yes, Kingdom Animalia also include bugs and insects).

So where is the bounday amongst the animal hierarchy would be considered...

All I have to say is, drop a vegetarian off in the middle of a jungle with no food, no water, and a pocket knife, and the first thing they'll do when they walk out 3 days later (if they survive, that is) is go to their local Outback and order a big juicy steak.

I think you're being overly sensitive about the issue. Maybe you'd rather die if you were in such a situation, but I wouldn't. I'd like to have SOME idea of how to go about surviving for a week.

It doesn't matter that he puts himself in the situation, that he has some kind of emergency back-up plan in place or that he's making the show in order to provide "entertainment." It is also educational.

Yep. They only tethered him in the episode when he was in the raft because there was no way he'd survive the storm.

Also, in the SAME episode they lost him and had no way to contact him...

In a sense that it is educational and that Les knowingly subjected himself to being stranded where he was, I can understand why you say that it's "entertainment". But, unlike in Man vs. Wild, Les is LITERALLY stranded with like 100 lbs. of camera gear. When we see him navigating through the jungle and up and down cliffs and stuff like that, he's actually making those same trips at LEAST twice, if not 3 or 4 times. That expends a lot of energy.

Love that there's new episodes coming.

I don't quite grasp the concept of the veggie nutcases whining about killing an animal in this realistic survival show. If was a blood sportesque, maybe, but Les shows real techniques not overly dramatized. Vegetarianism in most survival situations would ensure a quick death.
