The idol is a necessary evil to help prevent Pagonging. It also brings a strategy to a vote too. I think it's here to stay in one shape or another.

kenc333 wrote:So did Yul. Bravo to him for beating Jiffy Poop and EPMBonehead at their own game. Being the idiots and sore losers they are, the producers decided to up and change the way and times the HII could be played. The next true student of the game will come to see it as a liability instead of an asset and make sure a nitwit grabs it. Burnett can boast and crow all he wants; he and his cronies will just get beaten again and again and again.

The H.I.I. is the "One Ring" of Survivor.
Keep it secret, Keep it safe, or have everyone trying to knock you out of the game. The problem right now is everyone still remembers what Yul did with it, and thinks its still a viable strategy. It's not. You don't want anyone knowing that you have it. Earl/Yau is the way you have to play it if you absolutely need to tell someone else. Yul played his overpowered version perfectly, and forced the producers to realize that the EI-version was a mistake, giving us the Fiji Rules, which has turned out to be the best "twist" the game has ever had.

I know it's alreayd been mentioned but why do people say that the HII hasn't been used properly if Yau-Man was saved and Sylvia was gone when he used
it?

i don't know about that. i mean there's always going to be a bit of pagonging once the tribes merge but we've seen a few suprise votes over the
last couple of seasons. i mean 3 out of the 4 people voted out of the merged tribe in china have been from fei long, the tribe who came into the merge with the
numbers.

I like the suggestion here that everyone gets an immunity idol at the beginning and can use it once during the game. It would be interesting to see how they
use that "get out of jail free card."
Special new rule: If all contestants play their idols at the same tribal council, Lil and Burton return and Steph and Bobby Jon get to go to the opposing tribe. Then they all have a picnic on exile island, where Wanda will sing to them. |

It was properly used THIS season. Todd gave it to James, and then gathered everyone and blindsided him BECASUSE he had the immunity idol. It is only because of
the editing that we don't come to appreciate how genius this move was.

IMO the rules need to be that the HII can be played at any time.
Before or After the votes are cast or after the votes are revealed. |
