Not to be an asshole but Denise made a decision to go on the show and I'm sure she knew of some repurcussions for the extended time off. I am SURE she did not have vacation time that paid for her time off making 7 an hour. Also in fairness to other Survivor contestants, several others on the show (and other reality shows) have LOST jobs because they went on a reality show. At least Denise still had SOME job given to her. Sure it may not be ideal but she was not fired.Actually it sounds like what would happen if I took a long length of time off (as long as it was under a year that is), they would hold a slot for me but I would have no guarantee I would be back at the same job.

I was actually kind of disgusted that they did that. First of all, I think people should just get the money that they're supposed to get for their
placement for the show. This stuff about giving additional money to people just for being likable or popular is ridiculous. But the that bothered me about this
particular case is that I think it was kind of demeaning to Denise the way they did it. It basically made her out to be a charity case and I'm sure she
wouldn't have wanted that. If Burnett wanted to help her out he should have done something for her after the show. But really it was unnecessary since she
was already getting money for coming in 4th. What is it for 4th place? Around $65,000 or $70,000 or so?

4th place money plus $10,000 for appearing on the reunion show. Denise didn't need the money. Her family isn't starving quite obviously.

even have to know she left.

Oh get over it you idiots. A school lunch lady only works DURING THE FUCKING SCHOOL YEAR. She was not working when it was being filmed. Also, $50,000 is nice,
but dammit it is nothing, nothing. Living in Boston, one of the highest cost of living cites, probably 5th in the US! $50,000 dollars could maybe make a down
payment on a house...that's it! She couldn't make the morgage after that. Sheesh. Tis the season, ya know. Be nice.

I am curious as to why Denise was singled out to recieve this gift? James is a gravedigger, I doubt he makes more than a minimal wage. He is a black man,
lowly educated and lives in the South, subject no doubt to all kinds of racism, etc.. and I believe he WON that money deservedly.. he may not have been the
smartest "player" but he was geniunely loyal and kind and seems like a good man who never complains.
Denise on the other hand acts as if she is life's tragedy queen. She is not the first trash Survivor contestant nor the last. She is 40 years old, chose to participate in this show knowing very well that many of her kind have rarely suceeded.. yet she acts as if she deservers special compensation for not only being a poorly educated and employed individual, but one with bad taste as well. There are many people who will never have the opportunity to see or experience what she got from being on Survivor and making it as far as she did.. she seems a tad ungrateful and unaccepting of how fortunate she is.. if she has such a great husband and kids then they should have helped her find a more traditional and long term way of supporting her family than going on a game show and risk losing her job. |

She was free to go without penalty since the school was probably closed. Not all schools conduct summer classes and I assume Denise's school was closed
when she was in China. Also, you appear to have missed the point that Denise was punished because the kids LIKED her upon her return. These brain-dead morons
actually said that the kids showing respect and admiration to Denise was a BAD thing. Would they have given her a promotion if the kids hated her and wanted

BTW, taking into consideration some of the mature and intense scenes normally depicted on Survivor AND given that Denise mentioned being greeted by 3rd
graders when she returned, is Survivor really the best thing kids aged 7-9 should be watching (as Jeffy so artfully plugged) Thursday nights at 8PM? Why
should Denise have to clean toilets because these kids' parents decided to be boneheads and let them watch in the first place? What good is a v-chip in a
TV and a ratings graphic at the beginning of all taped shows if the parents are too stupid to figure out how and why to use them? I assume those parents were
complete idiots long before Denise started feeding spaghetti to their kids and moving her to latrine duty won't change that one bit.
