If recruits mention about previous shows, that isbecause they had to watch previous shows. Though Ian seemingly came on the show as a fan, he actually never
saw the show and only watched "Amazon" shortly because he was cast.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, Fairplay is more well known than Jesus, I don't think knowing who Fairplay is makes you a survivor fanlol Courtney made it very clear at the final that she didn't watch Survivor. She must have seen it in the media or been told by Todd and Amanda. I think the majority of references to past incidents have left out the names of the Survivors. For example Mad Dog's reference to Sue's speech didn't name names in a feeble attempt not to break the forth wall. But yeah if JFP is on F vs F then it was another good marketing decision to screen it. Bloody cruel to Todd's poor sister though.
