Mario, on the surface I would agree with you but I have seen some really obscure and ancient TV shows that have had release announcements on TVShowsOnDVD.com. Some examples: 1. Milton The Monster - an animated series that aired in the mid 1960's around the same time that the Beatles cartoon series aired 2. Burke's Law - a long forgotten show from the early or mid 1960's starring Gene Barry. 3. Honey West - a series from around 1967 that starred Ann Margaret and lasted all of one season I can't believe that there is more demand for DVDs of those long forgotten shows than any of the unreleased Survivor seasons. CBS/Paramount is in the process of releasing all of the seasons of Gomer Pyle USMC. This show has not aged well at all and I can't understand how there would be much demand for it. If we are lucky, we might see more seasons released once Survivor is off the air or perhaps it will go into reruns on some cable channel like Fox Reality so you can make your own. I've bought all the seasons off ioffer.com from the same seller (Todd Herzog also bought them from him after I did). They are probably the best quality available but they are not perfect. Episode 10 of Survivor Marquesas had weather advisories plastered on the screen for the full episode and the season recap was not included because OLN did not reair it.

The problem is, those three examples are from less-than-mainstream companies that specialize in cult shows that don't have mass appeal. If Survivor were released by Shout! Factory and got the same numbers the CBS releases did, they'd probably be thrilled. I'm absolutely with you on Gomer Pyle though; I'm guessing there must be some sort of fanbase out there because especially with an older show like that, they probably need to do some remastering as well as spending the money to create new features. It probably costs more to produce those than any given Survivor set, but the sales are probably higher too. I think the best bet at this point would be trying to get a company like Shout! interested in producing the DVDs.

I'm always interested if any more come out on dvd, I caved in and downloaded all of them off of irc (of the seasons not released plus All Star Recap). But I'd love to free space to get more. I was hoping the new distribution would have helped CBS release them but it seems like there is nothing at all.

There was apparently enough demand to release 5 of the seasons on DVD, so what happened? Obviously they are being stupid. Sales couldn't have been THAT much different between the release of Borneo and Palau.

That way I don't have to wait 5 hours for the eps to burn to a DVD and I don't have to worry about said DVD being scratched. 16 gig flash drives are really worth the investment for saving TV eps.

Posts: 444 (03/11/08 1:14 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	The only season I'd buy on DVD that isn't already out is Amazon... and that's just for another Cesternino commentary track (the ASS cesternino episodes were hilarious with commentary on)... I can see why seasons that are generally liked (Australia, PI, and Borneo) would sell a lot... while uninteresting seasons (ASS and Palau) wouldn't sell well. CBS was likely dissuaded by poor sales of Palau DVD to release any more... it's a shame too. The commentary tracks add new life to the show.

Borneo > All Stars > Outback > Pearl Islands > Palau > Vanuatu. I'd say the sales of the Outback season was the one that started the discouragement. When they released the Pearl Islands DVD and then the Palau DVD instead of Africa, I figured that all the seasons were not going to be released. The fact that there will be at least 18 seasons isn't helping matters any because if CBS decides to release any more seasons after the show is off the air there will be at least 12 to chose from. In terms of extras, the All Stars DVD is the best. My only gripe is that in addition to the mock tribal council, there were only seven new scenes along with the trailer with Big Tom and Rob incuded in the recap episode. Those seven scenes could easily have been included in the set without having to include the entire recap episode.

It is not a customer added image, either (although there is also one of those). I find this a bit odd, and I don't recall any previously released seasons with studio images prior to their release.

Just speculation on my part but...considering the interest going on in FVF right now, is it possible we're going to see CI released on DVD within the next year?

I think that totally blows. Not only are they removing the Micronesia epis and some of the older ones not yet out on DVD, but they're even removing the ones already on DVD too.
