"To Love Somebody:" Josh Vs. Clay | ||
|
Josh's version is much, much better than Clay's, for the reasons just listed. More heartfelt, less emphasis on empty glory notes. Going head to head
with Clay was a great idea, and Josh did go out with his best performance. But he hadn't been good the 2 previous weeks, KLo mostly had and with no fodder
left his time was simply up. Josh also had the last laugh when his CD sold twice as well as KLo's (and looking at rewind, it's obvious in retrospect
that there was no love lost between them).

There's a couple of rotten apples in every barrel. You 2 are it this time.

God, I remember being SO happy KLo made it to the top 3, although everyone knew she'd not make it beyond that. Not her best week, but I always loved her
"Emotions" performance. Josh finally gave ONE good performance and it was this week. I'd say that and Ruben's "How can you mend a broken
heart" were the standouts that week. I didn't see this weeks Rewind yet, but Kimberley is a raging nasty bitch? Really? I find that hard to believe.
;)
And look, Robin ruins another thread. |

she actually says that if she'd have been eliminated that week instead of Josh she would've kicked him on live television.... she also says several
times that Josh needed to go and at one point all she really cared about was beating him....

Yeah, I had heard she was a nasty little bitch this week. She said that Clay, Ruben and she made a pact that they would be the last three standing and
that's what they wanted. I think she absolutely should have outlasted him. But yeah, not necessary to be a bitch.
The best commentary was provided by Trenyce throughout this whole thing. Down to earth, honest and classy. I have a total newfound respect for her, and I really wish she got a deal somewhere. |

sea, is your puppy wearing David Cook's hair?
and I agree, Treynece was a class act.... |

Did I ever mention that I met Trenyce backstage during the AI tour? Not during a Meet & Greet, much more personal. We talked for about 20 minutes. She has
more snark in her than 25 Sucksters combined. She's a riot and yet she's totally sweet. She's also a realist and doesn't pull any punches and
yet, she is very very classy. Love her!

That's awesome to hear, Pod. Trenyce really rocks. I should try and look around and see what she's up to. I know she's done some show tours and
such, but no recording deal or anything.

I love Clay's version of TLS - I literally went weak in the knees that week (*blushes a little*) but I was already smitten with Clay at that point anyway
(didn't like Grease nearly as well). But I also love Josh's version; it was simply his best performance of the season (*high-fives seaguy*). I
didn't think Kimberly was great that week, but one of her performances was pretty good for me. Listening to her comments this week, though, just confirms
the reasons why I can't stand her anymore. I'll always remember Where the Boys Are with the utmost fondness, though. Agree that Ruben's How Do
You Mend a Broken Heart was simply lovely.
Trenyce - I thought she looked gorgeous in that yellow top and all of her comments were so impressive. I hope she will still get a crack at a good singing career, but if she hasn't by now, I'd say her chances are slim. I do wonder how she makes a living these days. |

To Love Somebody by Clay was brutal. It was too over the top and the glory notes were hideous. I have heard much better versions of the song, Janis
Joplin's version comes to mind, hell even Josh's was better than that. There is more to singing than just yelling.
Kimberly wasn't amazing this week. She sang well but didn't do anything amazing. Josh did quite good. Much better than Clay on To Love Somebody. Ruben sucks. |

Which is why all the recaps that night lamented Josh's misguided decision to sing the same song as Clay. But you go on with your bad self because opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. |

The 2007 Idol rewind comments by the 2nd season finalists are interesting. Unlike the first season contestants and 2nd season semi-finalists, they don't
seem to be holding back much (or aren't edited as much!). On rewind Corey finally does SOMETHING to justify his stay on the show when he says casually
about Caaarmen, "We were wondering why she was still here." Not bitchy like Klo about Josh, just...wondering. So were we all, Corey. So were we all.
Julia looks about 35 and is obviously bitter about her non-career after Idol. Kim C is charming and fake-nice as usual, Kim L is kinda bitchy sometimes. The
rest are basically just what we saw on the show, mostly pretty nice people.

RobbinAmber wrote: That's not how I heard it..yes Clay made the comment that the producers said "sure Josh if you want to sing the same song as Clay go for it"
chuckle chuckle nudge nudge.... but the judges certainly had high praise for Josh's version... Simon even said Josh took a big risk but it paid off because
his performance was brilliant *I think that's the word he used* Hell even Clay said that Josh did a good job with the song.... It's about
preference...some people like Clay's version better while others like Josh's....why is that such a big deal?

Nobody gives a rat's ass what the judges said. I was talking about recaps at the time by Shack on TWoP, on FoRT and online blogs where AI fans congregated
to watch together and comment. Besides, was I talking to you? No!

Sorry for not bowing down to Clay. I prefer the better versions of the actual greats who sang this song like the Beegees and Janis Joplin.

Nobody cares what you think. Shove your passive aggressive shit where the sun don't shine. You say Josh was great and then contradict yourself by saying
only BeeGees and Janis Joplin can do it justice. Fuck right off!
Yelly's fans are total assholes. Don't complain about there being no peace in Yelly's thread if you're going to act like a fantard yourself! |

RobbinAmber wrote: Clearly you care what she/he thinks and what others think, otherwise you'd let them say that Josh's rendition was better than Clay's and not have a fucking stroke about it. and it's always interesting when a fantard who only refers to her as Yelly calls other fans assholes.... If someone were to refer to Clay as Gaiken or Glay you'd have a fucking cow.... you're a hypocrite Robbin....just accept that no one here likes you, not even your fellow Clayfans..... |

Fuck right off!And right here folks^^^ is the result of 3 generations of brother-sister inbreeding. BTW, Josh wiped the floor with Clay's version too. |
