It could have been editing, but it sure seemed like they moved on quickly from that basic R/L/R clap to the next more complicated combo. I hate when they
do that at step class and I haven't gotten the first combo down and then they move on...you are lost for the rest of the class.
Now, these people could dance rings around me, I would probably look like a total spaz compared to them. It just seems (as I sit on my ass watching this show)
that they should be much better, more experienced. Some of the kids on that dance crew show had better style and the ablity to improvise and throw something
together...sometimes these guys are lame. I guess I expected more, but the show is growing on my and I finally did Tivo it.

I don't believe stomping right left right clap right left right whatever is hard. Even if they couldn't get the pattern right, they should have still
been able to keep a beat. 12 year old girls who play DDR could have schooled any of the 4 in the losing group.

I think Miguel and Michael are both in the bottom group, hence why they're so frustrated with each other.

Top group was Cody, Miguel, Michelle. Bottom group was Oscar, Tovah, Janelle (who had immunity). They had a "stomp off" just between Nick and Michael
to decide which group each would be in. Michael won so he went to the top group which meant Nick went to the bottom group.
Sista Miguel was almost constantly on the rag because Michael was in "his" group. Did anyone catch how Oscar's broken brooms managed to get replaced? He broke the first one, like, within the first 60 seconds of the stomp. They didn't pass brooms until much much further into the dance. Yet, somehow, he had a replacement broom, which he also managed to break, just before the passing of the brooms. I'm getting the impression that they probably have the contestants do the same dance two, maybe even three times, so they can film it at different angles then chop it all together in the editing room. Speaking of which.. I still passionately, vehemently, resolutely and absolutely down to the soles of my feet, hate hate HATE the hoppy-choppy editing of the competition dances. Gives me a headache in my eyes. |

If you looked really closely, you could see someone run out and switch out his broom, just like they do during an actual Stomp show.

I don't get it. Help me understand why the dancers on this show seem so much worse than the kids on SYTYCD. Who is the demographic? Why is it so cheesy and low budget looking for a Bravo show? I keep watching hoping that something will click, but... man. It's horrendous, isn't it? I can't wait for SYTYCD! Shoulda known E Moch was gonna be all up in it! Sup bitch? :) |

These dancers don't look all that, but I've got to say one thing in their defense: This show is shot in an entirely different way than SYTYCD. In
SYTYCD, they get a week of intensive training and rehearsals before they perform, and for the pieces they're judged on it's usually only two dancers
working with each choreographer. Plus, I'm not sure because I'm not an expert on SYTYCD, but I think I remember hearing they re-shoot numbers sometimes
before airing to make sure they look good.
On SIUAD, it seems like each episode is only a day or two of their time, they only get like anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours of time with choreographers and not much more time before they have to perform, and so far they've worked in bigger groups and not gotten much individual attention. The SYTYCD dancers might be better on the whole, but it might also be that their show works harder to make sure they're looking their best while this show is more interested in showing the nitty gritty of it all. |

This week's guest choreographer was awful. Debbie Allen at the Oscars awful. She butchered one of the best dance sequences in American musical theater, "Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO." "Whatever Lola Wants" was OK, particularly when sugar buns Cody was tearing up the floor, but "Hernando's Hideaway" was embarrassing. No wonder Oscar got the hook; he had experience with REAL musical theater choreography, and this hag hack could only see that his technique was clashing with her shit work. Farewell, Mr. Mistoffelees...
