I think it does take a special talent to be able to host a reality tv show without becoming 'game
show' like or being swallowed up by the show.
These are the 5 that I think could or should be nominated. ..And the nominees for outstanding host in a reality or reality competition program are: 1. Phil Keoghan for The Amazing Race 2. Cat Deely So You Think You Can Dance 3. Jeff Probst for Survivor 4. Ryan Seacrest for American Idol 5. Heidi Klum for Project Runway Should win: Anderson Cooper for the Mole..but.. The first emmy should go to Jeff as he and Phil set the standard for hosting these shows. So if not Jeff, then Phil should take the prize. I really enjoy Cat's hosting of SYTYCD and think she is smart, witty, fun, empathetic and strong enough to keep things going. Do not like Ryan Seacrest, but none of the other hosts do so many shows and spend as many hours in front of the cameras. And he is a professional and good at what he does. Heidi is not the best host, but wanted to include a Bravo show as they definitely have some of the best produced reality tv shows. Could be nominated: Padma Lakshmi -Top Chef If Canadian shows would be included I would have to have IMAN in Project Runway Canada over Heidi. Who should not be nominated: DONALD TRUMP! Julie Chen -Big Brother Ty Pennington-Extreme Makeover Tyra Banks - America's next top model Tyson Beckford- America's Next supermodel Mary Stephenson -America's most smartest model Mario Lopez - America's best dance crew Can't say as I didn't watch the show Nate Berkus- The Big Give... but he is damn cute, so if that counts for anything... But where do you draw the line between 'game show' and reality tv show. Are Howie Mandel or Drew Carey eligible? |

Seacrest is still one of the best (well) known hosts out there... it'll be a battle between Jeff and Ryan. Dear GOD let Jeff win.

Best Game Show is a Daytime Emmy category, Bob Barker has at least 700 of them.
Just cuz Jiffy did it first doesn't mean he does it better. Emmy keeps giving TAR the overall award for which Phil is a huge part of that win. Just makes sense knowing how Emmy stays true to some shows that Phil will get his own Emmy this year. |
