I'm def. glad they went back to F2...but did they have to do it this season...I wanted Cirie to have a shot at it so badly...happy for Parv, but Cirie was
so blindsided with that one...

I'm def. glad they went back to F2...but did they have to do it this season...I wanted Cirie to have a shot at it so badly...X If they do end up going back to the final two for good(which I pray they do) then it will be worth one horrible winner. I just wish that the horrible winner could have been in a season that sucked already, like Fiji, whereas this one really had potential to be in the top three or so. I know Jiffy/EPMB have said they loved the final three before, but I think we can all agree to always take what they say with a large grain of salt. |

I love the final two standing. Amanda was the first Survivor ever on the finale two times after 78 days in two different seasons placing third and second.

I also like the F2 better conceptually, but this season, we would have had a final 3 where ANY of the 3 had viable arguments for winning, and good edits for
it, unlike the other F3 scenarios we've seen.

I love a final 2.....but with a 7 person jury please.
Seriously, WTF? An 8 player jury? |

When I watched those, there was little suspense as I knew who won before Jeff read the votes. Also since the Final 3 was initiated, in each case the best player (IMO) won (Yul, Earl Todd). The big picture is that Survivor is a mature show which is getting near its expiration date. Jeff Probst confirmed that production was so discouraged with Survivor Fiji, that when they were filming Survivor Micronesia everyone associated with the show had decided that Survivor was finished after 16 seasons. It was only after the positive response toward Survivor China that production made the decision to continue. If Survivor Fiji would have had a Final 2 of Dreamz/Cassandra which could have turned off viewers, diminished the ratings for Survivor China and killed off the show. The Brian/Clay Final 2 is one reason why some people don't like Survivor Thailand. Ratings have gone down enough that having a few crappy winners in a row could end Survivor.

tullfan2 wrote: The thing is, though, that Fiji's problem had nothing to do with the F3. It ultimately came down to horrible casting. The possibility of a Dreamz/Cassandra final two would never have even existed if the casting department hadn't malfunctioned. Starting with China, casting's gotten much better, and with that hopefully the F2 will make a permenant return. |

tullfan, that's complete nonsense, as ss01 just said. Fiji was a horrific season, that's for sure, but it had little to do with whether Dreamz or
Cassandra could win. Fiji was a horrific season largely because:
1) The racist casting, which resulted in many horrific, ultra boring players. 2) The pagonging of the women 3) Probably the worst twist in the history of the game, the haves vs. have nots twist 4) Horrible, horrible editing It is those things that were killing the show, not who the winner was. Big Brother hasn't had a satisfying winner since probably the second season, but that hasn't killed it! BTW, Earl was a terrific winner, the guy played a great game, but he was one of the most boring winners in the history of the game. Hey Kirblar, how's that argument "the F3 challenge determines the winner" working out for you? Now its 8 out of 13 seasons with the F2 where the winner of the final challenge has LOST the game (Borneo, Australia, Africa, Marquesas, Pearl Islands, All Stars, Exile Island & Micronesia), which shows just how wrong that argument of yours is. Here's hoping we're back to F2 permanently. I don't know whether that will be the case or not, but it certainly made what has been a great post-merge even better, even if my favorite player ended up finishing third. |

I think in future seasons they may decide final 2/3 last minute, and just start the jury at 10

When the best player wins the F3 IC, takes a goat to the F2 and wins, that's a clearly deserving win. But in terms of F2 seasons, this one was the 8th
time that the F3 IC winner got to pick his/her opponent in the F2 and lost anyway. The others are listed here in order: F3 IC winner (WINNER, eliminated)

I also knew that you would make a thread like this beatles. Aw man, am I that predictable? Now if we can get a 7-person jury with a final two in Gabon, reverting back to the old ways will be complete. Absolutely. I really wish they'd done this in China, although I suppose with a 16-member cast it would've been less of a shocker. But it would've made that season perfect and put it over Africa for me, and maybe even Marquesas if I was feeling generous. Even if it came down to James' evacuation making them go with F2, they obviously made a conscious decision to do it for a reason, because they didn't have to do a challenge after he left or they could've made the F4 challenge for reward. I wish it'd never been tampered with in the first place, but the sheer glee and shock of last night almost made the last three finales worthwhile. But now I don't want any surprises; just stick with F2, jury starting at the final nine and be done with it. As far as Cassandra winning killing the show, why would that be the case? She wasn't particularly unlikable, and wasn't really much more boring than Vecepia or Danni. She was just there. Besides, the edit would be different, and it might have actually worked out for the better if Fiji didn't have such an obvious "Earl is the winner!!!" edit. And some hardcore fans would be annoyed with Ozzy winning CI, but he was easily just as, if not more popular than Yul. Eight jurors was stupid, but hey, it worked out; we didn't have a tie and it was necessary to keep up the surprise. And the Micronesia F2 was easily the producers' greatest shocker since the original tribal switch. |

3) It didn't screw Cirie out of the win. Amanda had 3 votes locked, Parv had Nat and Alexis.Alexis wanted Cirie to win. She said it in Ponderosa. Eliza - CIRIE Ozzy - AMANADA Jason - CIRIE - he knew she played the game James - AMANDA Alexis - CIRIE Natalie - PARVATI It all comes down to Erik, and he votes for Amanda or Cirie. Leaning towards Amanda, but he could have easily been convinced by Cirie in front of the jury. |
