I found Sucks at the tail end of PI, browsed a bit during ASS and started Edgic very casually in Vanuatu. With one difference - I wasn't casual. I PM'ed KQ thinking he was nuts to not see Chris. I finally posted to stop annoying him after he answered 2-3 PM's. Never got round to leaving. I remember reading the S5 thread before its mind was wiped, and very few names stood out other than KQ, but I know AMAI was one of them. I remember how they were shocked it ran over something like 11 pages! :-) I read spoilers in Allstars, having just become an obsessive fan during PI, and god, what a trainwreck to know Rob and Amber in advance. That ended that crap. Then Vanuatu fell into my lap. Reading about the players, I identified with the Ohio guy like me, rooted for him, and Chris won. Maybe that's why I can stand back and be objective while still being moved - I can't imagine another player coming close to that. I get that craig likes the chicks, but with Chris, I could see that as me playing the game. I would be that guy, and that guy won. I jumped up when that last vote came up. It's a great group. My offer always stands, if you are around Columbus, Ohio, let me know and we can have a blast. I'm single now, and after July 4 no kids, and at least won't have a curfew! I've just watched the first two eps of Thailand. It felt like (and might've been) that every single player had a confessional early, and Brian's is there, but damn, Clay's "diamond in the rough" would've stood out the most for me. He must turn at some point, cause I love the guy right now. That quote about Helen being "like an encyclopeida, you don't have fun reading it and only open it for information" was fantastic. I can definitely see the shift in editing, both in giving the winner more fleshed out time, but also in explaining the boots better. My mom is watching Thailand with me and actually commented how she hasn't seem any alliances yet. She's right. Well, we're a solid group, we know Edgic works, it's a great...oh wait, here comes Quiddity, hide, hide, keep it to ourselves! Michael

Please go to the STP concert tomorrow night and give me a full report! I'm 150 to 200% sure that you're gonna love Thailand ep 3. Although that scene actually does include a hysterically un-PC "Did Clay actually just say that on national television?" quote. Clay's shining moment is in episode 5 though. It's pretty small but you'll know exactly what it is when you see it...

Jenna is me what Chris is for OTH. The difference between reality and editing in S6, and the fact that KQ picked Jenna fascinated me. BTW I can identify with Chis more than most male characters. My first season was pearl isalnds when Edgic had its huge triumph by picking Sandra in the face of a Darrah wins spoiler. Darrah was supposed to beat Lill F2, but KQ insisted she was too UTR to win. S13 and S16 have been my best seasons picking the winnner. From early in S13 I had either Yul or Parvati as the winner, and now they've both won. Last Edited By: craig 05/17/08 12:41 AM. I actually knew about edgic before coming in here, I think that I kinda got on the idea after I watched PI the second time, and got to see JFP saying "there's no way sandra gets to the finals", that got me thinking that the edit is really cool, but I never got to really developing it. So here I am, a new edgician (some* may not even call me edgician right now). *and by "some", I mean everybody. Oh, and in seasons 13-15 I picked the winner in the first three episodes of the show, in S15 even before the show started, just by reading the pre-show interview. I'm sure this was all reasonable and well when a few bright folks noticed at home that the winner had, throughout the season, had an interesting story. Anything past intuition and gut feelings about it though just move you further and further away from the intention of the presentation, since your observational methods are fucking with your actual experience. Quantum physics, chaps.

Do sports fans take sport more seriously than the players? Did Torqemada take religion more seriously than God? Hell yeah!!! I first became intrigued by Survivor editing during Guatemala when I was fascinated by Veruca Salt's views. That's where Panurge has also been posting under another nic. I became frustrated by Edgic when everyone kept refusing to see that Danni's edit had legs despite its unorthodoxy. Despite the divergence in views, I was hooked by the arguments and by Edgic's capacity for rational argument free from flaming and excesses. Since then, with the help of Edgic principles as well as other types of editing logic, I've managed to somehow pick every winner - until this season, when things went horribly wrong! Long may everyone flourish to engage in robust debate!

I used to post on another Yuku board called "Anime Sucks" and found my way over here from there. And the CBS Survivor forums are retarded a lot of the time. Have you read some of the posts over there? Srsly. Yes, we do slip into taking the editing more seriously than the editors at time - but then so do critics interpreting literature. And its debatable exactly when we're guilty of it, especially in the mioddle of a season.

Veruca is an amazing analyst. I first came to Sucks Spoilers and Mess Hall around Pearl Islands because Blows had an "Across the Boards" vote tally and provided links there. I got into Mess Hall's story arc for a few seasons (S11 to S13) but quit that when it was apparent there were too many spoilers going around. I came here at the start of China to expose my editing analysis, get some feed-back, compare notes and methods.

She can't be anything but INVN. As for trolls trying to give us shit for having fun with the show in our way, fuck the fuck off. The experience is, speaking personally as I must, I find my enjoyment is heightened by being able to read the editing and interpret it. I found some frustration with the somewhat muddy definitions, but I have a couple of proposals to make in that regard. This season WAS enjoyable to watch and to discuss. It's rather amusing that someone would take the time to post insults in Edgic. If this kind of intellectual exercise isn't for you, it's your loss, Gaboner.

Some seasons spoilers scared me off of Edgic. And Fiji was just so boring I couldn't bring myself to do Edgic.
