Erik, naming the tribe Dabu was the coolest thing you did out there. Your subnic should be "The Dabu Kid."
I'd compare your blunder to what happened to Ian at the end of Palau. Nice kid, good in challenges, got emotionally manipulated by some older people who were more determined to win. Though your case is harder to understand, since most of those girls weren't even your allies. I thought your comment at the Reunion which drew applause, about being too nice to win, was unworthy of a hardcore Survior fan. Sure it contains a grain of truth, but the way you ratted out Ami was pretty hardcore, while Parvati and Amanda struggled with similar issues of loyalty vs game in reagrd to their closest allies. After blindsiding James in China, Amanda decided to play less hardcore. After getting betrayed by Chris and Jonathan, Eliza and Parv were more devious and less trusting. Bottom line - while I don't think you're dumb, I don't think you're morally superior to the girls that beat you. And girls have been played by guys much more often than the reverse in Survivor hsitory. |

Oh, Erik, here's a question that's been bugging me. When the girls went through Jason's bag to look for the HII, you and James both looked pretty
shocked. Why didn't the two of you go to Jason and tell him the girls had been through his stuff and knew he had the idol? That way you had a chance of
forming a four-person alliance with him, James, and Amanda and you would all have had more control over the remainder of the game.
Was Jason that big of an asshat that you just couldn't bring yourself to ally with him? |

I also wanted to write in ridiculous fonts and draw the first ever "verticle vote" but nobody seemed to notice it because it coincided with the big blunder that episode.What do you mean? OK, Erik--I'm going to bring up the "necklace incident" again
To call it a "Million dollar mistake" is inaccurate, since there was still NO guarantee you'd have won the $1M just by surviving another round. However, it is absolutely true that you cost yourself (4th place-5th place) prize money. How much does that come to? |
