Posts: 162 (05/22/08 10:54 AM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	If we are looking at success of idol winners: 1) Carrie Underwood - most awards, Jesus Take the Wheel, Before He Cheats & So Small hit multiple charts and crossed many genres - plus a few other country hits. 2) Kelly - The original idol, so she was huge in the beginning. Has faded out since her Miss Independent days. Still an amazing talent, but not as "celebrity" as Carrie has become...I think being the first idol and all the containment of her career by being that really hindered her longevity. 3) Jordin Sparks - Tattoo, No Air, One step at a time. Doing well for her first year as Idol. Not sure of her future. 4) Fantasia - did/still is doing great in her genre, Broadway etc....meh. 5/6) Taylor Hicks/Reuben Studdard --- since they won...its almost like the Mary...who???...Mary...who? situation. Besides some forced Idol publicity, these guys haven't gone anywhere. I would say Clay has been the most successful of Season 2, and obviously Daughtry for season 5. I think David Cook will fair well and easily be the most successful male idol we have thus far.

I think David Cook will fair well and easily be the most successful male idol we have thus far. it's so cute when the misinformed get ahold of a computer and post... faded since Miss Independent? yes MI spent many weeks at #1 on Pop... she kind of faded after that..(which might be when you slipped into a coma ) so you must have missed all this: in the summer of 2004 she released a song off the Princess Diaries soundtrack called Breakaway... it went #1 on pop and then went #1 on AC where it tied the record of 21 weeks at the top position.. it still remains in the top 20 for recurrent airplay almost 4 years later... In November 2004 she released her album Breakaway and the first single off that album really set Kelly's career on fire... SUBG reached across genre lines and people who normally hate pop fell in love with this song... arguably one of the best pop songs of the decade. She released five singles from Breakaway multiple #1s and cross overs to AC/Hot AC... she won two grammies including BFV for SUBG and Best Pop Vocal Album... she successfully toured for two years ending her touring on the Breakaway era with an ampitheater tour where she was selling out to 15-20K crowds. Her third album hasn't lived up to expectations set by Breakaway and she's not as hot as she was during 2005/2006 but she's still in demand enough to have toured successfully in the U.S. and internationally on her third album and she recently performed for the Pope...She's got a 4th album coming out in the fall and with the right material and the right backing from her label Kelly could once again be on top of the world...only time will tell... the thing about Kelly is I actually think she prefers the more low key career that she's enjoying now... as for David, I think he is going to rival Kelly and Carrie as the top idol winner ever! and I can't wait!! <3 cookie

She has a hint of twang in her speaking voice. I don't personally like much country music (I like Carrie a lot), but there are people outside of country who do it so much worse. FOR INSTANCE, what the fuck is with Asia'h Epperson? She sounds like a valley girl when she talks..and her singing voice sounds like a completely different individual and for sure not valley girlish...
