The difference is mind-blowing, even comparing both episode 1s (As it might be unfair to declare the Mole 5 a failure after just 1 ep) The atmosphere just feels different. The creepy piano music was so key to this show. Anderson is so calm and collected, while not being overbearing. Jon Kelley seems to be trying too hard....But it was just the first episode To all of those saying "wow I never saw this show before but it sure sucked"...Watch the damn videos online. Season 1 is up in its entirety on Youtube, see for yourself why everyone agrees The Mole 1 and 2 were so fantastic. They didn't dumb anything down for the viewers back then, which made it a pretty fulfilling show to watch

He just sucks the atmosphere out of the show for me already. Pity, too about the music. Is there any better music than "751 sheep"?? Maybe David Michael Frank only sold the music rights for each individual show, and wasn't contracted for Mole 5. What was played on the celeb editions -- I didn't watch.

Posts: 525 (06/05/08 4:03 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I didn't have a problem with Kelleywhen I could see him but his voice when he was narrating and they were showing the contestants annoyed the crap out of me. I kind of liked the waterfall challenge but the searching for items in the sand challenge bored me. Plus I never read Crusoe so didn't like that like half the episode was based on that book. Also don't like the exile island deal. They should give exemptions for betraying people in challenges. That makes good TV. They gave Nicole an exemption for being a whiny bitch. Music. I noticed it. Didn't care. The touch screen bothered me. No suspense there. Overall I still liked it and am glad its back and will watch it to the end but did not like it as much as older seasons and will not be as into it as I used to be.

Posts: 69 (06/05/08 7:58 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I rewatched it and the episode has definately grown on me, especially without the commericial breaks interrupting the flow. For the first episode it was quite good, with character development for almost all the players, something we rarely see on Survivor anymore. I heard that Jon Kelly really gets into an "Anderson" like groove beggining in the next episode. As for the music, it is still the same composer from the older editions. My guess is that they lost the right to use those themes because they have appeared on other shows, (Joe Schmoe). Nontheless, the music is also beggining to grow on me as well, especially the new goodbye cue and some of the more comedic stuff. I definately think that the series will live up to expectations.

The music isn't that bad, it's just new. Kelley as host isn't too bad, but there are some cringe-inducing moments. The biggest problem with the show is the heavy-handed overproduced feel in some spots. The beautiful beach background Kelley stood in front of looked extremely fake to me. Dr. Whiner in front of the "fire" while chatting with the group on the TV at execution was downright amateurish. Too much feels voiceovered. Little doubt in my mind that Alex is either the winner or the Mole, btw.

Anyone could be the Mole, no one could be the Mole. At least Kathy Griffin was funny. And then the last show and they'll show everything and how the Mole sabotaged things and you'll say "Oh, wow! That is so cool! That is so the way it was- why didn't I figure that out?!" I just don't get it.
