Australia's Next Top Model Edgic!

General comments on review of all episodes:
-I liked Rebecca a lot more than I thought I did. Although she could be a bitch, she could also be very funny and charismatic.
-I HATE Alyce even more!
-I like Demelza, but not as much upon rewatching the episodes. She is still my favorite, though.
-Samantha is soooo boring. I still like her, though.

Some comments on the Edgic chart:
-I don't think this chart is particularly helpful; it was more just something I made for fun rather than for trying to figure out the winner.
-Ratings were really hard to assign, mostly because many of the girl's edits didn't fit into any particular Edgic category. Many of the CPs on the chart are debatable, as are the OTTs. When it comes down to it, almost any rating can be a different one. I think this mainly has to due with the fact that the AusNTM editing is much more dynamic than Survivor's, as it allows for a wider variety of interpretations and opinions on the contestants and their actions. In many episodes, most contestants receive both positive and negative comments from other girls and it really just comes down to which one the viewer wants to side with. Also, the amount of airtime for each girl is a lot more balanced and evenly distributed. I tried to limit Ps and Ns to edits that seemed to be particularly crafted to make the viewer dislike a certain character (probably the most debatable tone rating is Jamie's P in her next to last episode).
-Calculating tone was tough, as I often had trouble deciding whether negative criticism from the judges and Jonathan counted toward an overall negative edit. I tried to put this criticism into the context of the rest of the episode to see whether it should impact a girl's episode ranking (for example: Jonathan's criticism of Belinda didn't stop her from getting a P in the fourth episode, but the photographer's and the judge's criticism of Alyce helped reinforce her N tone in episode 7).
-I'm terrible with assigning visibility numbers, so a girl's number does not necessarily correspond directly to how much they were shown or what they said on the episode. The visibility numbers are more about impact than anything else.
-I debated an NN for Demelza in Episode 4, but ultimately concluded that her edit didn't warrant one. Aside from the Alamela debacle, everything else from her was either toneless or positive. Still, the importance of the bullying in the episode keeps Demelza from escaping an N rating.

In conclusion, Edgic obviously doesn't work for AusNTM! If I were to use Edgic, however, I would say Caris has the best overall edit, but Alexandra and Demelza have reasonable edits based on what has happened with them on the show. I guess Samantha could win, but she has probably the worst overall edit and is the least likely to win based solely on Edgic. The only episode she has particularly shined in was an episode in which she was portrayed as a whiny bitch! Anyway, I have spent way too much time analyzing this, so I will stop!

But one last thing:

What bothers me more about Caris's edit is how little screentime she has gotten. Although Caris is always doing well in the photoshoots and is consistently being called early, we hardly know anything about her other than that she eats junk food and cries a lot. When compared to the other girls (especially Demelza and Alexandra), Caris would be almost a non-entity if it weren't for her consistency in the photoshoots. A key person to compare her to would be Samantha. Samantha is completely boring, as proven by many of her confessionals, yet she still gets a substantial amount of airtime. She gets confessionals where she comments on both herself and others AND she has had others talk about her. She even has had an entire segment on her whining. Caris gets a few blips here and there about herself, but there has never really been any focus on her outside of the photoshoots. She is always commenting on others like a narrator.

Could I be any further off-base? Maybe I should pay more attention to the episode!

Am I the only one who finds Caris to be completely fug? : /
