Aren't shingles contagious?
I remember my aunt having them for like 6 months. May your road to hell be shorter and paved with Valtrex |

Shingles are no joke.
I promise to try as hard as I can to not get them. |

I don't care about your roof. I'm in agony.
There's a whole generation of kids who won't have to go through this, thanks to the chicken pox vaccine. Anyone who doesn't vaccinate their kids needs to have a permanent case of herpes zoster. |

my grandfather in law got them a few years ago and it was terrible. it's supposedly a sign of a weakened immune system

Shingles are contagious only if you haven't had chicken pox. In other words, you can't get 'shingles' from someone with shingles. But you can
get chicken pox.

I had a chicken pox vaccine and still got them. It's useless.

I thought the vax made you more succeptible to shingles, since it wears off when you are an adult?

People who have never had chicken pox can't get shingles, so I don't have any idea what it is you're talking about.

Yup, there is some stats that suggest shingles will be more prevalent because of the chicken pox vax

Don't Shingles come in a can instead of a bag?

That's good. We'll just sit around and admire you while we wait for DHC to figure out the article she linked to.
Get comfortable, it could take a while. |

Sorry, I forgot to add (although I mentioned it above) that there is some evidence the vax wears off in adulthood, which would make you succeptible to
chicken pox and shingles at a later age.

OH, and Gina? When did you get the chicken pox vaccine? Certainly, it wasn't as a child, since the vaccine has only been in existance since around 95.
