Aren't shingles contagious?
I remember my aunt having them for like 6 months. May your road to hell be shorter and paved with Valtrex |

There's a whole generation of kids who won't have to go through this, thanks to the chicken pox vaccine. Anyone who doesn't vaccinate their kids needs to have a permanent case of herpes zoster. |

my grandfather in law got them a few years ago and it was terrible. it's supposedly a sign of a weakened immune system

Shingles are contagious only if you haven't had chicken pox. In other words, you can't get 'shingles' from someone with shingles. But you can
get chicken pox.

Sorry, I forgot to add (although I mentioned it above) that there is some evidence the vax wears off in adulthood, which would make you succeptible to
chicken pox and shingles at a later age.

OH, and Gina? When did you get the chicken pox vaccine? Certainly, it wasn't as a child, since the vaccine has only been in existance since around 95.
