I didn't think he was nearly that old, but then I was wondering if I was confusing him with someone else, lol. And don't feel bad, I don't get to
see big stars ever, because I end up just seeing traveling versions of stuff. Stupid me living in the middle of nowhere.

Cindi, you do not live in the middle of nowhere. Great people come from that part of the world. =D
I was jokingly referring to Pascal being 60...because of the whole "Rent" thing where the originals came back and were WAY too old to play those characters. Same goes for the movie. |

For my least favorite show this is one of my favorite threads. Do I get points for seeing Idina in RENT & both Idina & Kristen in WICKED? :) And can
I get extra credit for seeing Carol Channing in both LEGENDS & HELLO DOLLY! :) I'm heading into the city in a few weeks for my annual dose of shows
& I'm so excited I can barely stand it. I guess the sad thing about this show ending is that the thread will dry up as well. Ah well- soon a new
broadway wannabe will take it's place. Thanks for the entertainment folks!

Kempette, lots of extra points. :-) Please go see "Xanadu" if you haven't already!! And don't worry, there will be another thread soon
enough with Swim rooting on some shitty contestant that doesn't deserve to win just because that's what he likes to do. :)
Actually I think Bailey did a good job toward the end of the run. I actually think she's better than LBB. I'm not sure if that's saying much or not though. Hope her voice gets stronger, she sounded great at the very end when she belted out "So much better". Autumn had/has a great voice, but this wasn't the role for her. Swim..yep "Bend and Snap" was an actual songs. But I can't really remember how it goes. All I remembered until I saw this reality show was "Ohmygod, OHMYGOD you guys". So much so that I kept singing that to myself for days after...but I never figured out any of the other words of the song! |

Lol! Seaguy, Canandaigua is a booming metropolis compared to my town! I have to say, the finale was rather boring since it was so incredibly obvious who was winning. |

Sigh.
I would have gone the exact opposite order in the top 4 - Bailey gets cut first because she sucks. Then Autumn, because she's boring. Then Rhiannon, because her singing isn't good enough. Lauren would have gotten the role. Down to those two last night, I really found myself cheering for Autumn. Despite being old and boring, she really is very good, not just at singing, but also ACTING. Bailey is a terrible, terrible actress. If, as she said in one of her confessionals, she is Elle Woods so she doesn't need to act, then why is she always doing such phony, forced, contrived acting? I could never watch her in a whole show. Autumn, I could. Hopefully she'll get cast in a lead somewhere else -- something that she is more right for... I got the feeling that Jerry Mitchell liked Autumn way better than Bailey. I wonder if he got steamrolled... Does anybody know if a show's original director has anything to do with recasting? I would think that in most cases, the director would have moved on, and recasting would be handled by stage management with the decision-making landing with producers... |

I doubt he got Steamrolled... her orignal two week contract has been extended to six months.... so no steam rolling.

then why is she always doing such phony, forced, contrived acting?Welcome to broadway sweetie. I get it you guys didn't like Bailey. However, I really don't see how anyone can justify that Autumn was more right for the part than Bailey was. I do agree Autumn is a better all around triple threat, but she was in no way ever right for this role. Maybe she could be casted as Paulette or something since she's just about as haggard looking as her. her orignal two week contract has been extended to six months.... so no steam rolling.

I'm looking but I'm not seeing where any of us said Autumn was right for this role. None of us really thought much of her throughout this whole process other than she had the best voice there. She was so not right for Elle, we all know it. Bailey isn't really either, she just happens to physically look like her but it's a shame she's not all that talented. She will do this role for 6 months and probably never heard from again. |

I never said that you guys thought she was better for the role. I just saw some people were rooting for her and I was commenting that if you thought/wanted her to win, there was no was you could justify that she was Elle. Oh course she'll never be heard of when her contract is over (although it lasted longer than a lot of the hags at TWOP thought it would...which was two weeks |

Well, in the Broadway community, I'm unsure if winning a lead in show via reality show is looked too fondly on. The other girls may be able to get roles in
other shows while not having the stigma of being the winner of this reality show. Time will tell. Many of the Idols seem to be doing fine for themselves. I
just read that Diana DeGarmo is going to be in the BWay revival of "Godspell". I'm pretty happy about that, and I hope to see the show.
Why would they sign anyone for just two weeks??? It takes longer than that to rehearse for the lead in the show! |

It was in the original contract of the show. That way if none of the girls were up to par, they had a way of getting out of the deal. They must feel she's
good enough or they wouldn't have signed her for six months.
You could be right Seaguy. Laura/Max from "Your the One that I Want" flopped big time on grease (the musical actually lost money and that's what the main judge was saying could happen all season), and the Sandy runner-up Ashley ended up getting a role on Hairspray and got rave reviews. ETA: I just checked and Ashley from "Your the One that I want" IS Sandy on Broadway for Grease. Derek too is now Danny. I'm so glad they knew that they fucked up by picking those two.
