"I'm half his age and twice as mature"
Jonathan was just slightly more popular with his cast than Lill and Twila had been, because of his overbearing attitude and multiple betrayals. The feud between him and the "Raro kids" was a highlight of the season.
Jonathan alligned with Candice and Parvati on original Raro (not shown on tv). He went for the smart social girls rather than clueless Flica or Adumb (whose Sucks nickname sums up Jonathan's view of him). Later Jonathan rejoined Raro when he followed Candice's Mutiny. Adam and Parv keep him around for three TCs. Despite tension between his overbearing intensity and the fun-loving Raro kids, they trusted him because clearly he could never rejoin the Aitu 4, right?
Sadly Jonathan let himself be mindfucked by Yul at the merge, and basically handed the game to Aitu. If he did for game reasons it was a bad move, on par with Cowboy being talked into siding with Yul in ep.3. If he did it out of frustation with the raro kids, then he allowed emotion to cloud his judgment. Jonathan could have told Raro that Yul had the idol, and they'd have voted for someone else.
Parvati and her team were livid at the betrayal. Jonathan responded by behaving like a jackass at the reward auction, and trying to get Aitu not to share food with his old tribe. Even Sundra called him an obnoxious force, and Jonathan was roasted by the Raro kids at the following TC, where Candice was booted.
But the Raro kids weren't so dumb after all. Parv won the family visit and exiled Jonathan, allowing her and Adam to work Yul for a Jonathan boot. Adam threatened Yul with his jury vote if Jonathan wasn't booted, just as earlier Yul had threatened Jonathan with the idol to get him to flip. And Jonathan went out with the lame final words "I want my hat back."
Rematch: When Parvati and Joanthan were cast as Faves, that became the main rivalry that divied the tribe. To side with Penner, as Eliza and Yao-Man did, was to side against Parvati. But Parv recruitied a counter-alliance, capping it off with Cirie who didn't trust Penner or want to work with him. Ironically, Cirie became the swing vote, as Jonathan had been in S13, and Parv got her to do to Jonathan's alliance what he had done to Raro. Parv went on to win the game, and the respect of Jonathan.
#5 Jerri vs Colby & Tina (S2, ASS)
"Hall hath no fury like a woman scorned"
"Thanks, I needed that."
The best rivalry from the early season, and another that carried over into ASS. Originally, Colby and Tina were allied with Jerri, Amber, and Mitchell. But when a sick Mitchell was dumped in ep.4 in favour Keith, Colby became the swing man between Jerri and Tina. Would he chose the hot but bitchy mactress who was romancing him, or go with the motherly strategist?
Colby shared Jerri's dislike of Keith, but came to hate Jerri even more. He threw a bucket of water on her when they lost the ep.6 RC (pictured above), and tossed her around like a rag doll when they were paired in the F8 RC where they won a shared movie date. Immediately afterwards, Colby was persauded by Tina to blindside Jerri.
This move was applauded by America becasuse Jerri was bitchy and difficult. Tina dressed it up in moralist terms - Elisabeth and Rodger "deserved" to go further than Jerri, because were better people. Following Hatch', Tina wanted to prove that a nice person could win Survivor. Later, Amber met the same fate as Jerri for being "undeserving."
Outcome: Jerri felt most betrayed by Colby, and got revenge by giving the million to Tina. She also may have influenced her jury buddy Alicia to vote for Tina. Both Jerri and Amber harbored lasting ill will because they weren't merely betrayed by their tribe - they were told they were not as good, not as nice, not as deserving as the Kucjas players that were bumped ahead of them.
Jerri got her revenegd in ASS by outlasting both Tina and Colby. First, she got America's heroes Rupert and Rudy to side with her in sending Tina home first. After Saboga was desolved, she was delighetd when her friend Lex voted off Colby.
