Izzie Stephens
Yay for unpopular opinions! Anyway, despite being widely hated on Sucks, I actually think Izzie is one of the most relatable characters on the show (at least in the first couple of seasons anyway). Maybe it's because she reminds me of myself (yep, I admit it), but I can't dislike Izzie even when she acts like a complete bitch. She's a nice contrast from dark, damaged, woe-is-me, Meredith and usually comes across as bubbly, cheerful and optimistic (not weird Sydney-type optimistic, but the normal kind). She's also insanely jealous, immature, not very resiliant, sometimes pretty annoying and yes, at times, WAY too emotional. Honestly, though, I kind of like that she gets emotionally invested in her patients. I know it's hard on Izzie herself, but I bet the patients like to have someone who cares about them as people rather than a list of symptoms. Anyway, I've always thought Izzie would make a much better main character than Meredith, even if "Stephen's Anatomy" doesn't sound nearly as cool as "Grey's Anatomy."

Alex Karev
Burke is the hottest doc, IMO, but Alex is definitely the runner up. Sure, it's a big reason why he rates this high, but I love his bad-boy, sarcastic personality too. Alex has a tragic past that rivals Meredith's (or perhaps is even worse) and yet, unlike her, he doesn't constantly feel the need to whine about it. The show reveals information about who he is slowly which makes him a far more interesting character than Meredith. Anyhow, it's amazing how many horrible things Alex can get away with me and remain one of my favorite characters. The guy really is an asshole sometimes. He puts up Izzie's modeling pictures for everyone to see, he sleeps with Olivia when he's supposed to be with Izzie, he is constantly picking on George (telling him Callie slept with Mark, revealing to all his new intern friends that he failed the test), he makes fun of patients to their faces, and...hell! I haven't even mentioned a certain bitch named Rebecca! Still, he has a vulnerability to him that I like and I find his character interesting even when I hate his behavior.



















So, that means the winner is.....























Addison Montgomery
Well, how about that! Derek in last place and his ex-wife in first! I won't say it's a coincidence though as one of the main reasons I hate Derek so much is the way he treats Addison. Anyway, I have to give major props to the Grey's writers. They could have made Addison a completely horrible character: after all, she's getting in the way of MerDer's precious relationship! Hell, if this was some dippy romantic comedy, she would not only be sometimes called "Satan's Whore" she would BE "Satan's Whore." As it is, she's probably one of the most likable people on the show and is one of the most (if not the most) complex characters. She has more sense of humor than many of the attendings (Burke and Derek especially) and she's very social and a friend to everyone in the hospital (well, except Meredith - but if I recall, she actually tried to be friends with Meredith). Her situation is probably the most interesting (and tragic) of any one's (to me anyway). She loved Derek but he didn't love her. After eleven years, he chose Meredith. So, while it was wrong for her to sleep with Mark (dur), I think they did show her motivation - she was very lonely. Anyway, trying not to make any of these write-ups too long. I'll just say, I like the direction the writers took with her character (well, except for having her leave the show for "Private Practice." Eh.)

I pray that Addison returns to Grey's Anatomy when Private Practice is canceled because you know it's not gonna last much longer. It's estrogen overload more-so than Grey's.

14. George/Izzie ("Gizzie")
Surprisingly enough, Meredith and Derek don't make last place this time and instead the bottom slot goes to two characters who I really like. That said, as much as I like them individually, George and Izzie just don't work as a couple. For the first two seasons, we see them as best friends - which was great. It was probably my favorite friendship on the show. Then suddenly, the writers had to ruin a perfectly good friendship by turning them into a couple so they could break up George and Callie's marriage. Wouldn't it have worked if Callie was jealous of George and Izzie's friendship and if Izzie was bitter and upset about losing her best friend instead of fucking having to fall in love with him? It really down plays how close they were as friends and makes as much sense as Cristina and Meredith suddenly becoming a couple or Mark and Derek. Plus, they have pretty much no romantic chemistry together. Oh, and "Gizzie" is a really stupid word.
