i can't remember don ever calling his ladies from his home, the only numbers betty would see on the bill.
he would just show up at midge's place (sometimes to other unexpected "visitors".) he was even shocked when midge called him at the office that once (i think that was the call peggy overheard.) he did call rachael from the office, but those could be explained as business related because of the dept. store account.
i think betty's "knowing" came from that dinner table conversation with don about the discovery of her friend's husband's infidelity.
don's "who knows why people do what they do" speech was pretty weak and kind of guilt-y...
