I mean, I'm all for country pride and patriotism but I really hate this song.

For a national anthem it is notoriously hard to sing.
Look what it did to an otherwise highly esteemed Olympic athlete: My expert opinion: Change it to that This Land is Your Land Guthrie number immediately |

Mexicans love our National Anthem. Particularly the first line -- "Jose, can you see?"

The great thing about the SSB is it isn't some sappy orchestral slop -- it's got umph.

I like "God Bless the USA" but I don't think it would work as an anthem perse.

I don't mind it, but you better believe I was livid every morning when I was still half asleep and had to stand for it in school.

Well it IS hard to sing. Doesn't it get pretty screechy and up in the rafters in parts?

I heard that Barack Hussein Obama refuses to stand when it's played at sporting events.

I don't think anything of it. At all. I mean it's great and all...but I never pay attention to it.
But recently I was at a game and this one woman with the octave range of like a 1.5 tried singing it...dear God, it was brutal. Bitch almost completely ran out of breath anytime she had to sing above a whisper. |

I'm a Canadian, but I've always dug the Star Spangled Banner. Always kinda wondered what spangled means though. I suppose that sounds better than Star
Speckled Banner which would have made more sense.
