Geez, what an amateurish fight. Sakio was inviting Jaidon to hit him when he was throwing those wide looping shots. Not a whole lot of strategy involved,
Jaidon. If a guy is swinging from the bleachers, nail him with short, straight shots.

The Contender, which was cancelled by ESPN after two seasons, has found a third home: Versus, the network formerly known as OLN. For the fourth season, the network will move the show to Singapore and feature teams of American and international 200-pound cruiserweight boxers. In addition, starting at the end of this month, Versus will air an Asian spin-off, The Contender Muay Thai. It airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET starting July 31. Versus VP Marc Fein told Variety, "When you have the opportunity to bring a top brand with an established following to the network, and the ability to work with someone with a proven track record such as Mark Burnett and DreamWorks, you jump at it." Executive producer Jeff Wald told ESPN.com, "We're the show that refuses to die. We're like the fighter that keeps getting off the mat to fight on. We're excited to be on Versus." ESPN reports that "[t]rainer Buddy McGirt will return to the series to coach the American fighters" and "Sugar Ray Leonard, host of the
series for the first three seasons, also is expected to return."

I think they are two episodes in, I didn't keep it on long.
They were in the same place as always, a lot of people with accents, all different trainers (naturally cause it's a different sport). They have the schedule on the website if you want to catch up, assming you even have the channel. Wasn't this the same channel that had Survivor reruns only with a different name? I think it was http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/72308/?tf=program_schedule.tpl&catID=76 They don't have cast bios or anything, so yea, I really don't care. Just end the show...the only way it ever would have been saved was going to Showtime. It has been awful since season 1 |

It is the same network that did Survivor reruns, but yeah, it was OLN back then. Anyway, just to clarify, The Contender 4 hasn't started airing yet--the
one they're showing now is The Contender Asia. But Louie's right, this show has been pretty crappy for a while now, which is especially a shame since
season 1 was amazing and probably one of my top 5 reality seasons ever. The last two seasons had their moments but the production values are obviously lower
and I guess being on an all-sports network they decided to shift the focus from the boxers' personal lives, which was really the main draw of the show in
the first place. All I know is that with the way this show has been given second and third chances, The Mole had better get picked up by another network since
it's pretty much dead on ABC. I've never seen so much effort put into reviving a show that has absolutely zero hype, a fanbase that is staying with the
show entirely out of loyalty to a brilliant first season, and increasingly shoddy production values. In retrospect, it really should've been ended after
the first, because it was hardly a hit and they would have had to do a miracle job in casting to make it live up to the original season. Besides, the very
concept of the show pretty much guarantees that it's gonna be completely monotonous. You can only hear so many "That guy's going down in the ring
tonight, I'm bringing my A-game" cliches before you realize, wow, the first 40 minutes of every episode is exactly the same.

Not only is The Contender still around, but apparently they're shooting a new season, except they replaced Sugar Ray Leonard with... Tony Danza. http://www.realityblurred..._4/2008_Sep_29_danza_host
Seriously, this show should've died long ago. Is this going to be season 4 or 5? Season 1 was amazing and easily ranks as one of the best seasons in reality TV history. They're really tarnishing the franchise, though, as each season gets more and more ridiculous. I mean, what the hell was with season 3 and immediately eliminating 6 people to have a tournament of ten? Please, just let the damn show die. It had a good run, and it's time to end it before it further becomes a farce of itself. |

Ok, I've got to chime in. I did start watching Contender Muay Thai, and the last episode I saw on TV was Thursday Sept 25th (the first quarterfinal where
the 2 Thai's squared off - and I wanted Naurepol to win, dammit!!). Then I saw that the Contender wasn't on Comcast's schedule until 10/17 or
something. But then I went online last Friday 10/3 and watched episode #10, the episode that had the second quarterfinal matchup (the young Scottish dude beat
the old Swede). Why didnt' they air this? I'm clueless, am I mixed up or are they not airing these. I'll check tomorrow to see if episode
#11 will be up. Geesh!!

Oh crap, Contender Muay Thai has disappeared from the Comcast schedule and episode #11 is now online. Dare I say this is now Pirate Master - the remaining
episodes will only be shown online?!?!? Dang it, no more DVR'ing this thing.

Well, I saw webisode 12 last Friday. It sucks more watching it online than on the tube ... fucking buffering. But, I meant to comment from the last episode
that I knew John Wayne "Pahh" would beat Zidov (the class clown), although I kind of liked Zidov. Lucky at cards - unlucky at fighting. John Wayne
certainly gave him a lesson, knocked him down quite a few times. But not like this past episode, the last semifinal match, where Dzabar knocked Soren the fuck
out!! I was wondering how Dzabar would do since his no-so-impressive de-butt against Rafik, but he was good and Soren was too open with his arms.
Now the semis are set. I don't know who will fight who, but I hope it would be John Wayne vs Sean in one, and Dzabar vs The Thai Yodsenklai in the other. That may leave a final of John Wayne (who I voted as the winner) and The Thai. We'll see, as I'm probably the only one still watching this!

Anybody watch the premiere last night? I was pleasantly surprised, it was the best first episode in a while. Better than the last two seasons at least. Mainly
cause of Felix who has to be one of the most likable guys to ever be on the show. I really hope he wins, the way he talks amuses me...it's just so laid
back. But his story about the hurricane and everything was really sweet and he seems like a really stand up guy...kind of like Alfonso was...so i'd be
happy to see him go all the way.
They replay it tonight at 7 for anyone who wants to see it. |

Anyone else still watching this?
The fights have been just okay so far. Nothing really spectacular, but I still love the show. The preview for next week says the fight is a good one, so that's something to look forward to. I'm missing Pepe Correa too. He was awesome. |

Why ESPN does not sign the new season? I saw the older seasons in AXN, except the third season.
The Contender Asia was shot in Singapore between mid-2007. |
