i had a cousin named frankie who used to be the smartest little thing. one time, when we were both around 13 or so, we went down to the little convenience store on the corner of my street. we had seven cents, which was just enough for some gum and a soda pop. we got it and then sat on the wooden porch of my grandma's house for hours, laughin' at his little sister as she ran down the grassy hill across the street with her arms outstretched like she was laura from little house on the prairie. oh those were happy times, y'all. he stopped talkin' to me a few years after that because i broke my grandma's ming vase while i was practicin' my tryout routine to be a cheerleader, and when asked about it, i lied and said frankie did it. he got so mad, y'all! he gave me back my special frog shaped locket that i gave him when we said we'd be friends forever, and i never saw him again. i wish i could've apologized to him, but he was kilt in a car wreck back in '85 while workin' at domino's pizza and he was tryin' to get a pizza delivered when they were doin' that 30 minutes or less deal. to remember him, i made up an amazin' calzone recipe that i'd like to share with y'all to remember him by.



cousin frankie's memorial calzone

-1 16 oz bottle of pizza sauce y'all
-1 cup of mozzarella cheese
-3 lbs of kielbasa
-1 vidalia onion
-1 tbs of oregano seasoning y'all
-6 cold sticks of butters
-1 pie frozen pastry dough at room temperature y'all

1. make sure you roll out your pastry dough on a table y'all. be sure to sprinkle some flour on it or your rolling pin will get stuck to the dough and it'll be a big all mess y'all.
2. once you have a large box like shape like a tall building, you cut it into six smaller squares y'all. about the size of a child's kite.
3. smear the pizza sauce on each dough box kite and sprinkle your oregano on that
4. chop up your onion and put that on the sauce
5. put 1/2 lbs of kielbasa on the onion
6. put a whole stick of butter next to the kielbasa. be sure it's cold or it will not keep it's shape y'all
7. close the dough and make a folded kite shape. you need to make sure the filling won't poke out of the sides y'all
8. dust the calzones with the cheese
9. put in a 450 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes. or until the cheese looks blackened

looking at that cheese reminds me of my cousin frankie y'all. he was so handsome, and i miss him dearly. i remember jamie used to tug on my apron and lick some of the sauce off when he was too excited about the calzones. they are that good y'all! now from our kitchen to yours this is paula saying.
