Richmond and Chase-Eve bump. Who'da thought Gustav would impact Chicago, at least 700 miles from any ocean or gulf? Because he is -- radio says we'll get at least 2 inches of rain, more in some places, and possible flooding.

Speaking of tropical storms and hurricanes, here is the update from RIR's website >;-P :

As of 11:00 a.m. Thursday, based on the latest information about the projected path of Tropical Strom (sic) Hanna, this weekend's events are scheduled to run as planned.

We are continuing to work closely with NASCAR, local government officials and meteorologists to monitor the path and potential impact of the storm.

As always, the safety of our fans, competitors and the local community is very important to Richmond International Raceway, second only to the importance of sucking our fans' pockets dry, pissing off local residents who must allot hours just to run normally quick errands due to race traffic, and padding our and I$C's coffers.

Fucking Gustav. The sun finally came out today after two days of pouring rain. We got MANY
inches of rain.

And just to make it official...this will be a shit fantasy week for me. I'm starting scrubs in the B group cause I've

All Weekend Activities At Richmond International Raceway Postponed Until Sunday

ALL WEEKEND ACTIVITIES AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY

Due to inclement weather from Tropical Storm Hanna, the idiots who run NASCAR and Richmond International Raceway announced only this afternoon that all weekend activities, including tonight's Emerson Radio 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, as well as tomorrow night's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race (sic for no comma there) have been postponed to Sunday, even though they knew damn well at least a day or two ago that Hanna was on her way and could impact activities.

The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The Emerson Radio 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will follow the Sprint Cup Series race at 7:00 p.m. So what if double-duty drivers running the Nationwide race are exhausted? It's only safety and lives and screw both of those -- it's all about the benjamins, baby. That, and making sure Mike Helton will be home at his pig trough Monday for his feedings and the Frances will be back in Daytona so they can make sure their employees are actually working and not just playing free cell and surfing pron sites on their work computers.

All Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race tickets will be honored at the gate Sunday for the 1:00 p.m. Chevy Rock & Roll 400.

All Emerson Radio 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race tickets will be honored at the gate Sunday for the 7:00 p.m. Emerson Radio 250.

For those fans who can't stay around until Sunday, RIR officials understand your pain and have this message for you: "Sorry, muthafuckas! See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya! You'll just have to order your souvenirs at NA$CAR.com now!"

Well to be fair what the fuck were they supposed to do? At least they didn't make everyone go out there tomorrow night for a race that was never going to happen. It sucks but it's probably the best thing they could've done for the people going. As it stands though I'd rather be watching football and probably will.

gina, I agree - I think postponing everything until Sunday is best. From what I've seen on the Weather Channel, it looks like the rain should move out so they can race Sunday. I just think that RIR and NASCAR officials knew this storm was coming and could -- and should -- have called everything off sooner. That's where my gripe lies.
