Paul Becker is the best judge to me so far of the Canadian crew of judges. His telling off the queen with a hot hot hot hot mess description of his dancing was priceless.

Vancouver auditions, and look who was a huge surprise auditioning for the show. The primadonna herself Emanuel Sandhu (Canadian skating champion). The guy
works out at my gym, or used to, and he is all kinds of attitude.

I was kind of embarassed for Emanuel Sandhu. I was kind of hoping they would say no to him just to shut him up. Talk about ruining your image.

I was a longtime (and long suffering) fan of Sandhu when he was a competitive skater ... big talent, even bigger ego unfortunately. Very underwhelmed by his
audition

I have no interest in watching triple axels on this show. I hope he cuts out the skating moves. I was kind of surprised that Mary knows nothing about figure
skating.

Loved Halifax ballet girl, Cuban girl from Surrey and all four of the perky blondes that I can remember
Unfortunately most of the other auditions that looked really good were rolled into montages near the end of each audition day. I was totally with Mary on Sandhu. He was looking impressive right up until he starting fanning himself, then I remembered he's Emanuel Sandhu. I don't think he'll make it on the show, he's got a history of choking at crunch time. Can't say any of the hip hoppers were really blowing me away. That one girl who grew up at her family's hip hop studio was hard hitting but trickless, but it looked like she was handling the choreo so maybe she'll be a surprise. Some decent ballroomers with the Asian couple and the FC couple who are dating. I think the guy from that couple has the best shot at top 20. Tre continues to be very bland. Becker and Karaty were good. Mary was Mary. Jean Marc is a little off center but I guess he'll do. The girl in the hat was not bad either. |

Cuban girl from Surrey.. takes a bit of getting used to. Surrey...dance.. artistic. Thank god for immigration! (hey, I lived in Surrey for years I can diss on
the place)
I think she might be bigger on personality than ability, and she might be slowed by her english for interviews. It may factor against her selection. Some of the standouts and probable candidates for top 20:
Kevin Mylrea.. judging by alot of the male competitors, they NEED his masculine style and he impressed me with his strength.
Aryssay Reyes (cuban girl from Surrey) .. Hey if Eva Avila of Cuban descent can win Canadian Idol.. maybe...
Ferdinand Tocol.. Okay, who wasn't shocked at the moves this guy had. And he is a great personality, what a fun guy.
Jolene [Joey] Bothwell.. really beautiful and expressive
Natasha Gorrie, age 26 .. another Surrey girl?? and the 'funkiest' from Vancouver hip hop female representative.. but didn't seem really strong enough for the whole competition
Emanuel Sandhu, Age 27.. he has to overcome his ballet effeminism to butch it up. Having seen him around, that will be a tough tough act for him to pull off. But his bigger problem will be his ego, he just chooses the wrong things to focus in on about himself. He needs a huge piece of humble pie.
Eric Malapad, Age 27 .. I really liked his performance and if he can handle Blake's choreo.. I think he has a chance. But there are some killer hip hop style dancers from Toronto he will be up against.
Zillion Wong, 22, Sarah Liang, 21 .. I think she stands a better chance than him, I was mesmerized by her performance.
OOPS, the CTV website did not even mention the girls name in this photo..(but seriously, who was looking at her anyway.. ) Francis Lafreniere [515], age 29 Okay they have there Dimitry, Pasha hot guy with Francis. Not Russian, but French Canadian with a sexy accent. I would put money on him in the top 20. (and the omission of her name makes me even more certain of that fact) Here is the link to their video..He is hot, and she is wearing the skankiest short shorts and she has too much jiggle for that cut of a short. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C-tVFGxi6s Okay, there were more, but most of the female contemporary dancers started to blend together in my mind. .. I am curious, did anyone see if Scott Augustine made it through to Toronto? My friend seems to think he did well, but I did not see him featured on the show: here is his pic:

I am really enjoying the auditions so far. Yep I agree, the French Canadian [Francois] looks to have a lock on Top 20. I appreciate that we're getting to
see so many of the good auditions. A bit disappointed in Halifax - I wanted to see the East Coast bring it! I liked that Highland dancer girl [I think her name
was Stephanie] and I was bummed that she couldn't handle the choreography. I was also disappointed that there weren't any auditions from Vancouver
Islanders [BOOYAH] or Newfies! Oh well I'm stoked for Toronto Finals Week, it's going to be rad.
Seems like this thread isn't getting too much action eh....where is everyone? Oh and on a side note, that cocky figure skater's audition was wack. Mary not knowing what a triple axel was = so awesomely stoopid |

While watching the Vancouver auditions I was secretly hoping to see a horrible dancer (along the lines of Sex from the US version) that was the true embodiment of the 'Surrey Girl' ;) ....I'm a horrible person. |

Emanuel Sandhu, Age 27.. he has to overcome his ballet effeminism to butch it up. Having seen him around, that will be a tough tough act for him to pull off. Completely agree. I cringed when he started the geisha fanning thing during the audition. It was like he expected them to roll over and lick his feet when he did the big reveal as to who he was. Boy needs to get the eff over hisself! |

I so want that thing ^ off my TV for good. He's never won anything in big international competitions, unlike Jeff Buttle. And then there's his
oh-so-pleasant personality.

The only performance I remember from Sandhu is that one time in the Worlds or something where he fell like 4283743757 times. |

I've got to admit, I burst out laughing when I saw the LARPer from Calgary, but I was pleasantly surprised by his performance. That girl who went to three
auditions shouldn't have went through. It was probably a pity vote.

Awesome episode tonight.
Now that the auditions are over, I can boldly state that Canada totally brought it. Toronto Finals Week is going to scorch - can't believe we have to wait 2 weeks! |

Only got a chance to watch the Montreal auditions tonight, but there were some hot and hotter dancers. Loved the asian girl that was 'clean' in her
style. LOVED HER!
And mohawked Nicol (sp?) guy has an incredible style and look that totally took me in. I think he is my male favorite so far, not the best dancer but something about him. Camp Sasquatch, have to agree, not too much action here. I hope that isn't translating into poor ratings. I know quite a few colleagues at work are trying to catch the show. Lots of talent in the dancers, I hope the choreography and top 20 shows are impressive too. |

I think we have a talented group going to the finals. Can't wait to see who makes it. I have quite a few people that I like. For the most part I am happy
with the judging. I don't like Jean Marc, he doesn't contribute much and I don't understand why meeting someone who works with the disabled would
bring him to %%+##. I know he has a disabled daughter but that whole scene was a bit much for me.

Thanks Mike! Was worried, but wow... from your link: SYTYCDC viewed in part by 3.7 million CanadiansIf that is true that would be equivalent of 30million viewers (approx 10%) of Americans watching STYCYD USA. Kewl.. |
