However, the ones with the clearly most obvious were Earl and Todd. The reason is that neither had any true competition in terms of edit. Aras, Yul, and Parvati had competition. The competition they had were given to us in episode 1. Aras had Terry and Cirie. Yul had Ozzy (and possibly Jonathan). Parvati had Cirie. We'd be pushing it if we truly had anyone that held a candle to Earl and Todd, especially in episode 1. There was nobody, zilch, nada. Sure, Yau Man looked cool in his season. I'd LOVE for Bob to win this season. But that's wishful thinking. So...did Marcus have any REAL competition in either of the first two hours? Let's face it, we can only go by the fact that the losers are losers and winners are winners. They spent a GREAT deal of time on strategy for the tribe that never went to TC. Right there is an indication that the winner comes from that tribe ( hell, I don't even know the tribe's name yet-the red tribe). All that from watching in between cleaning the freezer and regrigerator after 12 days without power in Houston lol.

He was definitely P for most of the first half but suddenly went N-ish at Tribal. Okay, I don't get this. A bunch of people have said he was P, but how is being shown, not once but twice, "resting" while the girls are digging during the challenge P? And it looked like it was the exact same shot both times, so he probably didn't actually do it that much, but we were supposed to think he was. All I can remember about him is that he lounged during the challenge and didn't want to be the leader. Oh, and instead of helping his tribe up the hill, he went for the II. Not that that is N in its self, but the way Jeff worded it when telling them about it was basically "Are you going to be selfish, or are you going to help the tribe?"

All his pre-show interviews made it clear Randy's a negative person. That doesn't mean he's getting a negative edit. Did anyone say anything bad about him? He just calls it like it is, and with his negative-personality it sounds negative to normal ears. But he's not being edited negatively.

You can't be N if you say "I am mean, grrr!", only to be shown as someone who compliments other pepole. But, you got me thinking, and I think that she deserves an M rating, or neutral, she can't be N though.

He's just enough to be the obvious winner but quite enough to be rediculously in your face to an casual viewer. There's too much going on with the yellow tribe for anyone to be quite in your face. And actually, that's a better case for Marcus.

She says she hopes Marcus wins, because she likes doctors and thinks he's cute, but doesn't think he will. She also likes Bob, and Corinne. She didn't like Michelle or Randy. She thinks Ace is more likely to win it all, because he got so much focus right away and seems to be taking charge. Wanted to post this so that people could see that folks outside of edgic don't necessarily think Marcus will win. Personally, he's my number one pick. Complex, strategy, with just enough focus but surrounded by several distractions. I don't think Ken is a contender, because they played the ubiquitous goofy music when he talked. Not good. They're pushing Crystal too hard. Charlie is another option, but not as strong as Marcus. Michelle was negative, and Randy was too. Yes, he was shown as being right, but a player can be right and be negative. Didn't do ratings this time around, just wanted to watch and enjoy. The kids and hubby were off in Chicago, so I was by myself, and wanted to relax instead of stress. Maybe I'll get back into doing ratings next week.

My first thought for winner was Marcus or Ace (before the half hour mark on E1). I am also not sold on Ace being INV in the 2nd episode... i remember him being quiet, like Bob, but i do actually remember him doing stuff like fishing and being successful at fishing.... and this is why i need to rewatch.... Just come up with your own ideas and see the consensus, as I don't expect to be part of it. I have to rate as I see it, and go from there without worrying about it. Fang: Crystal-MOR3 - MOR or UTR - she told me nothing that connects me to her game, her ideas. I only know her resume. Dan-UTR3 - did not stand out. Spoke up at TC. GC-CP4 - Definite CP - no intended tone here. Assumes the leader role at TC. Without TC he could've be a 2 V but clearly a big character by the end. Gillian-OTTN5 - tough rating, do people take her cheerleading well enough to be P? She was hindering her tribe. You agreed with Michell going but Gillian was equally deserving. I wouldn't argue M too much, but I didn't feel that any one moment was strong enough to have ever merited a P tone. N is left. Ken-MORP4 - telling the "last time kissed" story isn't just him wearing well, it's intentional to make him a P character. You have to like the guy. Editing made you see his naievity about romance and losing Michelle. He's a "good guy". Matty-MOR3 - maybe a 2, good words early then backed away from. Maybe UTR. Michelle-OTTN5 - I could understand CP actually, but I think she came off one dimensional, the downer diva. She was right about fighting on at the challenge, but every single viewer felt booting her was justified. Randy-MOR4 - He narrates. Hitting his head (only inserted to explain the bandage else they could've chucked it), calling Gillian annoying when she was (hasn't done crap as she holds...crap), "dude we lost" was said after Probst himself told Gillian to shut it, this guy is naturally a personality, in ep 1 he's not edited to give a Tone. Susie-UTR1 - not much there. Kota: Ace-MORN4 - We know what he says about himself, but only superficially. He should dig his own grave eventually. Not CP as there's no insight to him. Bob-MORP4 - Not many words but all over in view. Immediate fan favorite. Mr. Smart and nice guy. Charlie-MOR3 - Smiley, happy, funny, but basically described Marcus instead of himself. Corinne-UTR2 - No tone intended. Her quote about being a bitch will come into play later, a la Exile Island Danielle being an athlete, which wasn't to surface until the finale. Here, she did nothing but praise Bob. That's it. She may grow story legs, but nothing yet. Jacque-INV - nothing Kelly-INV - nothing Marcus-MOR3 - there, gave input on the adventure, on camp, on friedship with Charlie. Right in the middle from the outset. Paloma-UTR1 - nothing N about making fun of Ace, the egomaniac, puh-lese. Bob did it and he's Mr. Sunshine. I laughed with them. Paloma was a nothing character. Sugar-UTR2 - Loud person covered up as an unimportant character. By the end of episode one I officially eliminated INV rule - Jacque, Kelly UTR1 in ep 1 rule - Susie, Paloma Winner thoughts Marcus would have to be choice one. In the middle, memorable and defined, but with plenty of big characters to pay attention to. Ken, GC, Charlie couldn't be discounted. Michael

Fang: Crystal- MOR3 - talks about booting Gillian and Dan but zero about her. I could see UTR. TC was pretty memorable. Dan- MOR5 - wants to be the "silent leader" but becomes a boot target. Nice try, tie wearer. Charcoal is silly, but for good reasons. Wasn't so dumb for Koda to exile him, since he should have found the idol. Looking in the water? No insight about him, and not really OTT, so MOR it is. GC-CPM5 - he praised his tribe at the end, but was in over his head. The clueless rice boiling is enough to make fans feel N about him, hear the music change as he leaves the scene. Quitting as leaser happened, but wouldn't most people do so? His reaction to Gillian was mean, though somewhat understandable. But he did wake them up. Caught fish. At least he's only a "grown man" and not a "grown ass man". He reminds me less of Dreamz and more of Rory. His screen time is about him and it's all things to all. He isn't specially Toned, he's just thrown on screen and the viewer decides. Gillian- OTTN5 - picking a public fight is stupid. It's okay to hold your tribe back in a challenge, but less so when Probst points it out to viewers. V 4 or 5 whatever. Ken-UTR2 - must learn from their mistakes. Maybe a 1V? Matty- UTR2 - will go with Crystal but preferred Gillian goes. Doesn't trust suits...Marcus and Charlie take note... Randy-MOR3 Operation crash and burn is not N in and of itself. Snoring. Says GC hasn't led anything, and he hadn't. Made the fishing hook. It's a P thing, but not edited to make that much of an impact. He has natural camera charisma, it's my opinion they aren't forcing him to be anything yet. It will come. I'm sure everyone but me gives him tone. I don't feel it is warranted. How is he edited to sway the viewer in any direction in this ep? Susie- UTR2 - did Gillian annouce her boot next? Kota: Ace-INV - nothing Bob-UTR1 - Two huge SPV moments separate him from Ace so UTR is correct. Charlie- MOR3 - would jump on Marcus, onions are one brain working as one. Learning nothing about him. Being in a strategic scene doesn't make one CP. He's having fun. Corinne- MOR3 - joins the onions, first to mention Bob joining. Jacque- UTR2 - 4th wheel of the onions. Her SPV of Bob's fishing with Marcus was nice. Kelly-INV - nothing Marcus-CP3 - onion layers, Charlie first then Jacque then Corrine is the large onion alliance Paloma- INV - nothing Sugar-INV - nothing By the end of ep 2 I had eliminated Previously eliminated - Jacque, Kelly, Susie, Paloma INV - Ace, Sugar I'd elimate Bob and Matty and Randy with any guts, but I don't have them yet. Strengthened my belief in Marcus as the winner. GC dropped a bit, Charlie and Ken still there, Corrine actually may make sense, but I'm not strong on it. Not sure what it means yet, but it must mean something, right? And ditto to whoever said that Marcus' interaction with Jeff was definitely really similar to him & Parvati's interaction last season. Marcus is like a culmination of all the recent winners! He has the Parvati intro, the Todd alliance-mate, the Earl beyond obvious winner edit, and Yul is referenced as Marcus' favorite winner ever. I mean, if you just show the guy, as he is, all negative and curmudgeonly, doesn't that produce a majority of viewers who don't like him? Some people like him, but most don't. Same with Michelle - they showed her making negative comments but also being the love object of a sex-starved kid. Maybe that's "and also". Anyway, a lot of people were glad she left. I felt like Randy was really N in first hour ("ep 1") introductory packages. he was made to look a fool by Granny Clampett for bumping his head. I didn't like his comment about letting the rest of the tribe self-destruct while he watched. That sounded not very nice, especially when contrasted with Bob, whose main problem is probably that he is too close to OTTP. He's great - he's prepared, he's athletic and has a lot of skills. Who felt like they got "lots' of facetime? For me it's Ken, Bob, Marcus & Charlie and Randy. Of the women Crystal probably got the most of the women who remain. That's just looking back at practically midnight on Saturday night with White Rabbit playing on the computer. Seriously, this season looks to be the complete opposite of the last one, which was run by women. So if a guy is going to win, that's cool with me. I'm not convinced that Marcus or Charlie have the best edit. They had a little too much visibility to be at the mean of visibility. And I reckon the winner is given establishment facetime with a couple of key quotes but it might not be all that much actual time onscreen.
