I think Ace's MORDiff looks really good, and the "episode 2" invisible is something I'd be cautious about using to eliminate him. I'm
not up on the reading...are people definitely eliminating him?

Let me get this straight...
Episode 2 of China, James dominates two challenges and is shown pushing a tree over, and he gets an INV. Ken wins one challenge in a scenario where he HAD to be shown and he gets a UTR. |

It was also a memorable face-off; the physics teacher is beat by the videogamer. We were even reminded of this in the recap.

Close Calls
Rating GC Brown INV (0%), UTR (29.2%), CP (0%), MOR (45.8%), OTT (25%) He had enough a presence in that Randy leadership scene by the tent, and it was stressed quite strongly by Randy that G.C. was the cancer of the tribe. Sugar Kiper INV (0%), UTR (0%), CP (50%), MOR (0%), OTT (50%) Classic OTTP edit. Was so reminiscent of a Colleen or Dolly edit that I'm surprised this is even a contest with CP. Paloma Soto-Castillo INV (0%), UTR (0%), CP (12.5%), MOR (54.2%), OTT (33.3%) I forget what I put initially, but MOR just seems more fitting. Even with a large part of episode focusing on Paloma's weakness, it just wasn't that memorable. It also wasn't one-dimensional like an OTT, because they gave her a fighting chance with the "Ace sucks" in return - and the "Ace sucks" was just more prominent. Tone Randy Bailey NN (4.2%), N (50%), neutral (45.8%), P (0%), PP (0%)(note: 6 out of 11 neutral votes were for dynamic) This edit was so Penneresque. A neutral dynamic seems fitting. |

you know.... looking at the tone for Randy....
I don't think it should be between Neutral & Negative...but Mixed & Negative. just a thought...more than half of the neutral votes are for Mixed. And...i'll admit it, i messed up on my own voting! I had wanted to put in Mixed, but when i checked the spreadsheet, i see i didn't key that in, so i supposed technically that would be 7 out of 11 for mixed.... |

Sugar CP or OTT My notes from Exile Island: "Sugar gets cuteness, sympathy, and conquers her fears to triumph better than a lawyer." We also see her in an alliance meeting with Ace and she tells us that "Ace will take care of me." We ended up learning a lot about Sugar's motivations, personality, and game. Sugar CP |

Randy was most definitely NOT Mixed this week. To be mixed, you would need some sort of positive rating to balance out the negative for unjustly bashing his
team and fighting with GC.

Not only was nothing positive, but he received intended negative SPV from Dan, he's now part of the problem bringing the tribe down and failed to be the
observer sitting back like he said he would be.
I can't change that opinion. Randy stays an N from me. Michael |

RobVanStratus wrote: The challenge is edited down, even if it's less manipulated than, say, camp-life. The most obviously-crafted part of the challenge is in the end, right after Jeff's speech to the winners/losers. In it, we're shown who we're supposed to be happy for. In this episode we got 2 images - one of Ken finishing the puzzle, the other of him jumping towards his tribe-mates in victory. They could have shown anything from the probably-about-two-minutes victory of Fang, it wasn't coincidental in the slightest. One could even make a point for a OTTP1 rating for Ken, as the only impression we got from him is a "Wow! he did it!" kind of impression, and then back to the shadows. But that is dangerous, radical edgic for which the world is not ready for yet. |

OnlyTheHunter wrote:Episode 1 is more important than Episode 3. I thought that Marcus' presence at TC was enough for MOR territory, but even if it was an UTR he would still me on top of my winner's list because he got a good opening. I wrote Cirie off after the first episode because she started with an UTR after being a favorite player and going to TC. And how many winners have had an UTR for their first episode? (but then again, I have Corinne as my #2 pick. Prob because I felt her UTR had more substance than Cirie's, and she didn't go to TC). |

Winners can start UTR, but that borderline UTR1 thing in episode 1 has proven to be death. I think unduli and I are cloning are opinions again. Corrine was,
for me, clearly an UTR with a meaningful edit in episode 1. Marcus, Corrine. Corrine, Marcus.

Corinne was more deserving of MOR in ep.1 than Marcus was in ep.3.
Another thing in Corinne's favour is her tone. From pregame intereviews, we know she has a cynical hardcore approach to the game and is not aftraid to provide material that could be used to portray her as a bitch (like Natalie towards the end of last season). But her tone has been fairly balanced and mixed, about what you'd expect if such a player WON. Or at least faces the jury. Crystal and Ken are both benefitting from fandom in their ratings, but who cares, they ain't winning. I wouldn't mind the P for the Olympian if she got a N in ep.1 for sucking physically and how that was edited. But you can't have it both ways. |

Charlie - "Corinne is smart." He's said words to that effect more than once.
Jonathan "Parvati is a great social player." We know the outcome there. |

Sorry, Craig, but sucking physically isn't enough to be N in and of itself. It takes someone like GC not bothering to give any effort to get that. Sure,
you can have a braggart fail and have that N as well, which I know is what you argued for Crystal in the first episode. The truth though is that while the
editors could have done that, they didn't. Besides, we all know you are just mad because Fang voted out Michelle first, and you want to punish them by
giving them lousy Edgic ratings. I'm sorry, but that isn't how Edgic works. We don't get to choose who wins and who doesn't so rating them
one way or another doesn't affect anything.
Note - when the underdog wins a challenge, and Jeff allows them to comment on how good it feels, that's manipulated positive editing. Heck, getting that P may or may not be good for Crystal's Edgic profile, but that's irrelevant. It is what it is. I didn't add a P to Ken's UTR like some others did since it seemed to me to be more of a group P edit than individually his. That said, he clearly is not invisible for the episode even if you accept INV as a legitimate rating. Arguing about this just proves yet again that INV is a useless rating that is entirely subjective. You may be right that neither Crystal nor Ken wins, but I'll continue to leave them in the mix as possibilities. I still don't understand the mindset of trying to cull the players down so quickly. Edgic is about identifying the best edit, not the only edit left by default. |
