I don't think there is an answer to where the Colt is now. I'd place money on someone showing up with it this season though at some point. Or maybe
Castiel helping the brothers locate it. It "disappeared" with Bella and as far as I remember it's never been mentioned since.

GREAT rating news for Supernatural!
'Supernatural' Season 4 Experiences a Ratings Surge Now that the fall TV season is in full swing, it's starting to look like the writers' strike caused a lot more damage to television than we originally thought. Many sophomore shows have plummeted in the ratings compared to last year, including Pushing Daisies, Life, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Chuck, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Even Heroes, an already established hit, is down about 32 percent compared to last year, leaving many experts claiming that we're in for some sort of television apocalypse. As sad as it is to see so many great shows struggling for viewers, it's not doom and gloom everywhere on the tube. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Supernatural has experienced more ratings growth among the 18-49 demographic this season than any other show on television. It's up 42 percent from its season 3 numbers, beating out second place gainer Criminal Minds by an impressive eight percent. Supernatural season 4 kicked off with an impressive 3.96 million viewers, though the first episode was up against limited competition. The second episode, which had to compete with the premieres of Survivor, The Office and Grey's Anatomy, fell to 3.2 million, while the latest installment, which landed on the night of the vice presidential debates when many shows were delayed, surged to 3.5 million. To put things in perspective, the highest rated episode of season 3, "Bedtime Stories," was seen by 3.24 million people. The ratings average for season 2 was a mere 2.91 million, while this year it currently stands at 3.55 million. I wish I could point to something to explain why Supernatural is experiencing a ratings surge, but I have no idea why more people are tuning in now versus last year. I personally know of three people who just started watching the show this season, and after seeing the quality of the first few episodes they've become quite addicted. Maybe all the buzz from the fan base is finally starting to pay off, or maybe the new twists and turns in the mythology have pulled some people in. As much as I hate to rain on the parade of Supernatural fans everywhere, chances are the season 4 average will take a bit of a hit once the show goes up against heavy competition. Thanks to some crafty scheduling, the series has only had to square off with the likes of Grey's Anatomy and The Office once in its first three weeks, but that's going to change beginning this Thursday. 30 Rock will also be premiering against it in the next few weeks, though that's hardly a ratings juggernaut. Supernatural isn't the only CW show experiencing a ratings uptick in the all-important 18-49 demographic. Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are also up six percent. The network may not pull in huge numbers, but it looks like more people are finally paying attention to their quality shows. |

the series has only had to square off with the likes of Grey's Anatomy and The OfficeI thought those shows were ratings juggernauts. I don't watch either, but I wonder about this report. TAR gets 10 million on CBS and despite the Emmy wins, seems to be on the renewal bubblle. If The CW suits are happy with SN snagging 3 million plus, I think we're set for a nice long Veronica Mars proof multiseason run! (Oh, there's no way, NO way, that bitch Bella died at the hands of the hellhounds. Witness the still-missing Colt -- you know she had to have had a few more favors to call in after Deano. ) |

Oh, no, Kripke himself said she died. he was pissed at how many times the they inadvertently had her get the upper hand on the boys.

Piranhahaha wrote: something went missing from my cut and paste of the article, as I remember it originally said it "has only had to square off ONCE with the likes..." now sure how that got cut off. but i think the author's intent was that the rating may be artificially high because the shows it's normally up against haven't been airing in their regular time slot, FWIW that said, i can only imagine that anyone who's watched it so far this season will be compelled to stay tuned. it's been on a roll and now that more people are tuning in, i think they'll stick around now they see what a great show it is. |

On both of your quotes:
I don't believe Kripke. Bella might not be back this season, but.... She ain't dead. My bet is that she has a side deal with Lillith, to be revealed when Sammy goes all leader of the demon army in Yellow Eyes' endgame. Let's find the Colt and see where we are. I tracked back to the original article, and noted that, yeah, the last eppie was up against the Palin/Biden debate, so of course it's artificial. Then again, as much as I love this show, anyone who wouldn't have wanted to watch that contest has priorities out of place, but mebbe that's just me. Regardless, this is outstanding news for the series. Momentum building for a network-lite series in its FOURTH season? I recall that even Buffy was starting to see drop-offs by season 4. The DVR and Netflix may have changed the game forever, and at a most happy moment. Especially if your name is Bella. |

Bella is dead and neither Laruen Cohan or Katie Cassidy will be back on the show, period. In fact, in one of the DVD extras, one of the writers remarked that Ruby's invovlement became more heavy because of a slightly positive fan reaction (basically only in 3x01 lol where she kicked butt and hardly opened her mouth) and that Bella's involvement was toned way down due to negative fan reaction - they hated how she got one over on the boys. (Whether or not the execs should care is beside the point, SPN ones clearly do. And I'm grateful.) In fact, Kripke said in one of those CW preview things for the either 3x15 or 3x16 that when Dean said "when that bitch's breath comes out it's crooked" or something like that, but in present tense, he didn't mean for that to imply that she was still alive, because she wasn't. Her deal came due and her story was full circle. The only question remaining is about the Colt. ETA: But, far be it from me to keep you from believing in her return :P. But get ready for a long wait hehe. |

Thanks for posting that article, KW. Wonderful news.
And something I have been meaning to ask Reggie. Who is this evil bitch you mention in your posts re giving Kripke a hard time? Is she some CW idiot who thinks she knows it all? She better shut her mouth and let Kripke do what he does, because Supernatural is perfect the way it is and should NOT be tinkered with. |

The one responsible for canceling Veronica Mars, etc. Basically, when SPN came to the CW in Season 2, they expected WB numbers for it. Well, nothing got WB numbers for it, and the show didn't fit the demographics they wanted. Simply put, her "vision" was a network that banked on younger women, the 18-34 women demo. They knew they couldn't compete with the big four on viewers, but if they could win the women's demo then they'd have their "spot." Well, SPN is a "male-oriented" show. (Although, I'd wager far more women watch the show than men. The fandom, at least, is 90% female.) And any show like this that didn't OVER perform (Smallville) was eyed by Demon O for immediate removal. When season 2 came to a close, SPN was renewed very late in the process and Kripke honestly didn't think it would be renewed. He mentioned at a con (convention) that one of the things the network "suggested" to help the chances of it continuing on their show was for female characters to be added to appeal to the CWs target demo. Well, that's when Kripke kinda spit in their faces. He made it known that the show was looking for "two female romantic interests" and the fandom flipped the fuck out. This board isn't exactly a good indication, but the fangirls involved with this show? Are ridiculously protective of the "brothers." Specifically, them...in the show, together, no OFC. (Other female characters.) Kripke basically was pulling the fans legs as a way of saying - hey, they want love interests -- butttt no worries, I'm not stupid enough to do that. And so, Bella and Ruby were added and they were clearly not love interests and people kinda settled. SPN got picked up really early last season (for season 4) despite lower numbers than Season 2 (mostly because of the strike, I'd imagine) and Kripke actually got a 5 year development deal with them. Which the details you can find online but it's kinda like...he wants SPN to end after five seasons, with a potential for a movie after and a spin off series that takes place in the wild west with Samuel Colt. However, despite this dev dear, the rumor mill claims that Dawn Ostroff made it clear that it didn't mean SPN was automatically going to get renewed for Season 5 (later this year.) In fact, if you look in the interviews, all parties involved are pretty vocal about not knowing if this is gonna be the last year or not. Far more vocal than they were last year with far less impressive numbers. And not only that, but Kripke could be plopped on one of the teen trite shows on the CW for his last year of his contract, instead of working on SPN. Which would pretty much be...like...a punishment for not giving into her demands. The reason there's so much conflict is unsure. But, if you look, SPN is the #2 rated scripted show on the CW. Yet it is one of the least advertised shows on the CW. Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and 90210 get the most ads. You can say...well if they're not doing as well that makes sense! But, a lot of people get kinda turned off by this because it's like the CW doesn't "support" the show. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I kinda buy into a lot of this. Because for a show's creator to not PRAISE their network head up and down is really strange. Unless there's some tension there. And I'm sure it chaps Ostroff's ass that her pet projects (GG and 90210) aren't performing as wonderfully as she thought, and the network that she decided to push as a women's demographic network has their #1 and #2 shows "as male targeted." Kinda suggests she's failed, huh? Not only that, but there's a lot of rumors that the CW could tank at the end of the season because they frankly have really screwed up how they're doing it. Their Sunday shows barely pulled in 1 million viewers last night. Their Friday night Wrestling Block, they gave up to put their sitcoms on that night, and their sitcoms bombed. (Btw, the network that got WWE?...well... "MyNetworkTV Delivers the Most Male Viewers in History of the Network and Tops All Other Broadcast Networks' Friday Performance in M18-34" Simply put, that's 3 million + viewers that the CW had, that they gave away. Their numbers for Friday without it? EHC: 2.10 0.8/3 The Game: 1.91 0.8/3 And a ANTM Repeat that got 1.49 million. So frankly put, the CW is in serious trouble. That being said...what shows are still over performing and pulling in solid numbers for the CW? :) The shows that Dawn Ostroff has no intention of supporting, whatsoever. :-) |

^^^WOW, thanks for all that info, Reg. She really is an idiot and you'd think she's realize what a great show Supernatural is, in spite of the lack of
promotion, etc. I've been watching since the beginning and I can't remember how I found out about the show, but I suspect from reading something here
about it, which peaked my interest and I tuned in for the series premier. I was hooked! I don't watch GG, One Tree Hill, etc. If it weren't for
Supernatural, I don't think CW would even be in my radar. (Well, I do tune in to ANTM, but it is really a take it or leave it show for me).
Now I'll be on pins and needles all season waiting to hear if SPN will get renewed for it's 5th (and last |

At this point I think it would be a complete mistake to cancel Supernatural. It's not the highest in the demographic she wants, but it brings the viewers.
How stupid would you be not to renew your #2 performing show for it's last season? There's no harm done in airing it for another season when it is
performing solidly. Cancelling it would create an uproar, probably resulting in (more) rock salt being delivered to the CW base.

If a show gets canceled after improving its ratings by 42%, there is clearly some conflict between the exec heads and
the show that can't be worked out. And the info will come out and my guess is that Ostroff and co will look like
absolute twat monkeys in it. :P
Also, you have to keep in mind that if the show does continue with this really impressive ratings increase, the network may be desperate for it to continue. May need it to. Smallville is ending soon, either this season or next. And they'll need a new power hitter show. We may have a case of Smallville, where the original creator leaves and someone else comes in. While, that would be nerve racking, I honestly think the on screen chemistry between the two leads will carry the show, regardless of the direction it takes. That being said, I feel that way only because I never want it to end. :P Five seasons would be wonderful though, so I'm hoping for that now, and then when that becomes not enough, I'll hope for more. hehe ETA: Cancelling it would create an uproar, probably resulting in (more) rock salt being delivered to the CW base.Yessss! When I read about that, I fell in love with this fan community. Seriously, that's brill. She'll have to move to Canada to use it all up :P. |

Just a reminder that CSI starts this week, so the show is likely to take a ratings hit. But let's keep tuning in (those of us lucky enough to have the CW) to make this more successful than 90210/Gossip Girl/One Tree HIll. :)

It'll get ya by the end of the first season. The first few episodes (in my opinion) are some of the best MotW episodes (monster of the week) of the entire
series -- especially Hookman -- but the real crux of the show, Sam and Dean's bond, takes a little while to get off the ground. But by the time Faith
rolls around, I have a feeling you're gonna be a fan. Because...well, hopefully you see quality where quality exists. :)

Season 1 gets very mytharc at times. Sometimes during MOTW episodes. It all depends. Some are strictly all mytharc - some are both, or some are neither. Just
depends, but there IS an overall arcing story each season.

obviously tonight's episode didn't quite reach the level of last week, but they needed to have it as a sort of resolution to everything that Dean
learned, and I think it was a solid episode. I just cannot get on board with new Ruby though; it's not just the way she looks, but she acts nothing like
Ruby either. Really bizarre. Next week is going to be BRILLIANT from all appearances, so I can't wait for it!

Yeah, Katie had such good mannerisms as Ruby. She REALLY pulled off the snark and sarcasm. This new actress just falls flat on it. Her "badass" line
of "The ER, unless you wanna go another round." totally fell flat, IMO. I hate this new actress. Please let her be expelled from this body somehow
and replaced into a new body. I like Ruby, just not THIS Ruby.
