Mine is big on "eat all your food" - I don't know why she's so obsessed with it, but she HATES to throw food out.

My mom's mom tells me things like..
When I was 108 (the heaviest I ever weighed) she made a comment about me looking fat and told me I needed to lose some weight. And she keeps telling me to go buy tea because she wants to see my apartment, but I don't want her to come into my apartment.. I really don't like seeing her, I try to aviod seeing her as much as possible. |

My grandfather could never understand taking loans out or using credit cards. I still hear him saying " I don't understand how people can buy
things without money."

That one's a dud. (Her usual opinion after meeting the boyfriend of a daughter/granddaughter/great granddaughter)
Don't sit so close to the TV. You'll go blind. If you keep making that face it'll freeze that way. Don't wash your hair/take a bath during a lightning storm. eta: My dad used that term for Brazil nuts too....and I grew up just outside of Chicago. :cringe |

My grandparents used the same term for Brazil nuts -- I think it was a generational thing because they had African American friends.
I grew up in the northern burbs of Chicago. |
