John McCain 'endorsed by al-Qaeda supporters'Supporters of al-Qaeda have said they would prefer Republican candidate John McCain to win the US election because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.Last Updated: 5:43PM BST 22 Oct 2008 In a message broadcast on the password-protected al-Hesbah site, the group said they would also welcome a pre-election terror attack on the US because that would make a McCain win more likely. In an endorsement that will not be welcomed by Mr McCain's flagging campaign, the group said that if al-Qaeda wants to exhaust the USmilitarily and economically, the "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate is the better choice. "This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush." "If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests," it said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it." Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, had no immediate comment. The message is credited to a frequent and apparently respected contributor named Muhammad Haafid. However, Haafid is not
believed to have a direct affiliation with al-Qaeda plans or knowledge of its operations.

Reid and Pelosi have brought up the Fairness Doctrine. It won't be hard to get Obama to sign it.

And Bonestripper... I doubt very much that you have ever had a mother after reading some of your posts on here. And if you really do, I'm sure she disowned you years ago. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings but it seems to have worked out. It is a happy day |

Every major government program that's been initiated with the best of intentions has always grown in size to the point where it is undercapitalized and not always positioned to serve the best interests of the constituents. Best examples, SS, Medicaire, VA, etc... There has to be a sane budget with emphasis on deficit reduction. I don't see either candidate planning this. |

I have a question, with respect to a budget that reduces the deficit, how can that be achieved that given the current economic climate WITHOUT reducing (but
not increasing, either) much needed social programs and services (SS, Medicare, VA, etc...)?
I guess this goes out to everyone debating budget issues. The bailout has set a bad precedent IMO, but I curious to hear what people think would be a 'good' national budget. |

Nov 2004 after the election, the shares were going at just under $20. If you cashed in last June, you did ok. But other than that, you tell me how Haliburton has been doing. |

I can give you the answer in 6 words........ THE COUNTRY NEEDS A NATIONAL OBJECTIVE. Energy conservation and climate issues would do. It worked for Kennedy with the space race it would work again but, for the last 8 years we have had no objective but to wage war. |
