The weavers got no penalty at all unless I'm incorrect.

They were so calm and lovey dovey cuz production already told them they were out but they still needed to film them going through the motions. That's why they never told us what time the flights left --- cuz the next flight after the Frat Bros was the next day! I bet Aja and Ty weren't even in the country by the time the frat boys finished.

THis has happened in several of the early episodes of the first few seasons. The last time I remember it happening to the regular season is in season 6, 3rd episode. THe last episode Don & Mary Jean had taken Adam & Rebecca's vehicle. They weren't penalized or even mentioned during that episode (they focused on Freddy & Kendra's penalty for taking a extra clue), and it was mentioned and shown on the start of the third episode.

Note 2: Gary and Dave arrived 2nd, but were penalized for speeding. They departed 3rd after a 42 minute penalty. I see TAR has done it this way before but why are SOME penalities during the leg and some AFTER the leg!? It makes no sense!

Posts: 165 (10/26/08 7:42 PM) I don't get most of the jokes Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I would assume one of two possible reasons. 1. This is all filmed and edited before aired in the US. So they may find that it adds nothing to that particular episode to actually show the person sitting out the penalty, they may have spent the bulk of the episodes extra time on other factors. And just mentioning it in footage the next episode takes up almost no time at all. For example in this episode they knew that Aja & TY were significantly behind the other teams, I don't think having them play out a penalty would have heightened the drama of the episode at all. Even Terence & Sarah knew that the other team was significantly behind them. So what would it had to the episode. Really not much. A voice over does it very easily. 2. As mentioned earlier it might be something that the producers discovered after the team had already checked in. But it I would lean alot on it being option #1 most of the time. I'm not sure but I don't think we were shown Toni and Dallas running in with Terrence and Sarah. Maybe Terrence and Sarah arrived earlier, had a 30 minute penalty, waited, then Toni and Dallas arrived a couple of minutes before. OR that even with the penalty, Terrence and Sarah would still have ended up in 3rd. That's how they did it before, right? The penalty would be given the next leg for speeding and breaking road laws? I think this is different from not doing a clue (for instance Heather and Eve, as well as Mark and Bill taking cabs instead of walking).

Didn't they get off of the plane at the same time? Some teams got hopelessly lost, I think. Apparently it's common in NZ because the same thing happened in The Amazing Race Asia 2. Only Aja/Ty and Marisa/Brooke faced this problem I think. Ken/Tina had about 2 hours lead over the others because they took the FF which was completed much faster than the normal Detour/Roadblock/Add.Task... etc, Plus they flew by helicopter

Didn't they start the NZ portion of the race at 6 or 7 in the morning. That means they were driving around for almost 24 hours (and that means the blonds were lost for even longer). That sounds really harsh (I know people will mention the 48 hour leg in TARA3, but that one had a lot of bus transportation). No wonder they looked so haggard at the end (I thought it was at most, midnight for the blonds. Hilarious leg though.

He just said Ken n Tina who were the first to arrive, will depart at Xam. It wasn't a 12 hour pitstop obviously.

Well Aja and Ty did start out NINE HOURS behind the first team - there really was no hope for them to catch up. Could the application of the speeding ticket penalty on the next leg have to do with a law being broken? They didn't break a race clue stipulation (ie. take a cab instead of walk) and they didn't gain any time from it, so it wasn't applied to their finishing time?
