I can't see Sugar having a winning edit. I see her getting the "Underdog goes a long way" edit sure. The crazy/cute chick edit, sure, but a winner's edit? Hard to look at it that way. I tend to agree with DickeyD here, she's had a story line but hasn't been THE story line. Even the Ace boot was edited to look like it was Kenny who did the masterminding, not Sugar. I think she makes F4, maybe even 3 but winning? Where, exactly, are her winning votes coming from? Marcus? No. Charlie? No. Randy? No. All she has at the moment is Bob and I'm not so certain Bob would vote for her either. Beauty of having some episodes left is that you just.never.know. All things considered, I think the editors have already started showing us the winner in the edits and don't have a whole lot of surprises left for us, unless somehow we get a Bob or Suzie win of course. -SJ™

I am also tempted to start my own edgic-style crap thread in Speculation for next season, where I can make a bunch of shitty pie-graphs and invent all sorts of wonderful abbreviations.... Sugar was terribly ICFTW3 last week, while I felt Susie leaned a bit more BNW2F.

Posts: 6 (11/25/08 9:17 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Something interesting to note (not sure if it was mentioned) is that in the first episode Crystal has the first confessional saying that she will "use her blazing speed to win the hell out of this game". This could be either a) an indication that she wins, or b) an ironic statement included by the producers to show how she loses (since we know that Crystal has NOT [lol] used her blazing speed, the jurors would not vote for her to win due to her poor challenge performance) The way this season is playing out, I am now leaning towards the idea that Crystal either wins or is the first runner-up, with the latter being the more probable.

It has been shoved in our faces even before the season started. It still hasn't been mentioned in any of the episodes from 2 onwards. She did not even have a Gary like story-arc of being scrutinized for being a pre-school teacher. Granted, she sucked so much no one would even doubt she's just a muscular kid teacher!

I guess being an indie filmmaker and working in post production, my view is that it would take an amazingly talented editing crew about 6 months to construct edits based on personality with a slant towards the winner. Rather, they have a bunch of stories to tell and without giving away the winner, there will still be instances where the winner is shown in a positive light. Of course, we can throw out the confusing edit of Amazon which, much like Guatemala, was more about the loser than the winner. Amazon was all about how Rob C and Matthew lost, not how Jenna won (at least edit wise), though she did get the "little girl grows up and finally plays Survivor" edit the last few episodes. I can totally see a Crystal win since, as I stated, she's been taking hits every single tribal council cept the last one, where she was quite vocal. However, I think when it comes down to voting Kenny trumps Crystal and in fact, Matty with his great skills but horrid strategy probably trumps Crystal as well. Her comment could mean nothing more than she makes the endgame. With 18 people, a shitty tribe, etc. one could say her comment means simply that she "outran" 15 other (or so) people. -SJ™

She's shown as incompetent at challenges, not masterminding any of the strategy, and being way too in your face and aggressive ("Eat yo rice", anyone?) Susie's arc has been solely the big switch in alliances. She's been completely useless in challenges, and is HATED by Onions. No chance they vote for her over any of the others. Matty...... honestly, what has he done, besides nothing? He has a minimal story besides the proposal. That leaves Ken, Sugar, and Bob. Bob gets the big "underdog" edit now, but he goes first chance they get. Sugar and Kenny get the two monster edits of those left. The next two weeks we will get the giant red herrings of them dumping Kenny..... but the super "gamer" survives all betrayals. Sugar, Kenny, and anyone else is your f3... doesn't matter. Kenny wins going away. ywia

It could be similar to Amazon (as SJ accurately describes it), where it's all about how Kenny seemed to have the game won, but plays a little too hard and ultimately loses to the innocent little girl who knew nothing about the game but gradually figures it out. Susie has completely disappeared since her flip. Crystal is Kenny's loyal pawn. Matty is the nice guy who plays for the 'experience' and 'grows as a person'. (And at the Finale will say some variation of "I won more than a million dollars when my GF agreed to marry me"). Bob is an extroverted Butch.

As far as edits, I'd say Kenny and Sugar have the winning edits, with Crystal a possibility. Matty, IMO, has a mix of the Cook Islands Ozzy and Exile Island Shane edits. He's a "necessity" and a "threat" (ala Ozzy), and most of his edit has been about his girlfriend (ala Shane and BOSTONBOSTONBOSTON OMG BOSTON!!!). I think Matty will stay as long as he's convenient. I said about the recap that Corinne got so much air-time compared to Kenny/Susie/Crystal because Corinne was going to leave this episode, so they wanted to give us some more info on her. So I think the lack of Kenny, Sugar, and Crystal scenes in the re-cap lends to them going farther in the game (ergo, there's more to explore). But Sugar has definitely had a strong edit as the underestimated underdog. I still predict an all-girl F3, with Ken booted at F4.
