"The pivotal moment of the season, Bob's agreement to help out Sugar and the rest of her alliance by giving Randy the fake idol was a classic example of teamwork and taking one for the team despite his personal preferences. Everything about that scene between Sugar and Bob was about helping each other out and gaining credit points for later use."
It didn't help Sugar's team out - they were in zero trouble. It was pure vindictiveness. Bob wasn't helping Sugar - he was saving his skin by being part of a public humiliation, and we was angry afterward at her behavior. The reality is that the Fangs were going to boot Bob unless he did this.
Yes, Scep. That's the whole point. The reality was that the Fangs were going to boot Bob unless he gave the idol to Randy. The editing presented it differently, choosing to leave it out. The editing presented it as Bob and Sugar helping each other out, showing Bob as willing to take a hit, like a batter being convinced to let himself be hit by the pitcher for the sake of future personal and team gain. If you think that I was suggesting that the Fangs needed Bob to help them for strategic purposes, then you've misunderstood me. There are many ways to help out a team. Allowing them to have their opportunty for revenge is part of being a team player. Bob's assistance was sought by Sugar on the understanding that the payoff would come later. And it did.
I defer to your judgement, TLS, it was all in my mind. Bob didn't talk about team in his opening statement. And his responses didn't have anything to do with being an effective contributor to the team other than in strategic decision-making.
I'm eager to take your advice to learn and apply from an edgic guru, such as yourself. What particular aspect of your performance this season would you like me to learn from?
