I personally think that the earlier seasons, because they are filmed with poorer quality, looked a lot more surreal and it really added to this idea of them
being 'stranded' on a island for survival. What's your opinion?

The production quality of the first season was limited, I agree. After that, however, they had a hit show on their hands, greater resources, and they in time
moved away from the stranded theme.

I think there is too much focus on the challenges and not enough on the strategy around camp/camp life in general. I think we are shown less camp timestrategy
so the producers can better mold the story they want to tell (and a helluva lot easier). In the earlier seasons the show seemed to follow the game play more
(i.e. it was more of a straight forward edit), now it seems the producers take the winner and create the storyline of their choosing.

the film quality of survivor 1 was so shitty it was like some blair witch project documentary - the people i could really tell apart were the black people from
the white people, until the fat douche took off his clothes, then i could recognize the 2 black people and one giant flaming blur
meanwhile, survivor: gabon allowed me to see each crevice in michelle's facial zits... so with technology comes weirdness. so yeah, great thread...

Yeah I agree with this actually.
The grainier image made it look like it was filmed in the wild under difficult conditions. And also like it could be part of the movie "Cannibal Apocalypse". |

I couldn't get through more than half an hour of that movie, because the real animal slaughterings on film just bothered me.. But yea, poorer production does make it seem a little more primal. |
