I do not want to defend Gretchen, but I do know that the drive from where she lives in Orange County to the hospital in Los Angeles is about an hour each way. They even showed footage of her on the freeway. They would not have done that if it were a 10 minute drive. They would have waited to talk to her later or whatever. It's far enough that she cannot go home for a while and then go back in the evening.

Anyway, my point is that she *may be* spending considerable parts of her day at the hospital and then attended the dinner party in the evening. A person cannot be at the hospital 24/7...it's just not possible. It wears you down considerably. She was right to have his daughters fly out to help. If his daughters went home presumably it is because Jeff was getting better. Where is the hate for them leaving their father? For all we know Jeff is urging her to partake in these social activities. Do you know how many hours are in a day, or in a week? Plenty for her to attend a dinner party or two without neglecting Jeff.

Considering that she is a 30-year old that has a "look at me--it's all about me" personality the time she is spending with Jeff while he goes through cancer is more taxing than it would be on one of us. We're not all the same.

At this point she is not expecting him to die. We know that he does die, so we are seeing it from a different perspective.
