The Michelle/Jennifer connection wasn't the only Season 1 mental-link I had watching in; Katie barely surviving the first two treatments was a lot like a less awesome Danielle.

Freakout, just write the word SPOILER in square brackets [like this] and then /SPOILER in square brackets to end it [/like this]

And then an assumption that Cheese is a test and the Beer Pong is a Treatment.

beer pong is for food.
Cheese is a test. Olfactory Assault is the treatment. on hulu there is a lapdance clip and one person is never shown. |

Leroy was there and just a great, great guy who loves the show and learn so much from being on it and wants to share it with you. There were a lot of other contestants there but my timing was off as VAL had let them off to get something to eat. Happy to see you there bro, I had a great time and I hope you did too! |

It's a hard show to make new material for, a lot of 2.0's T&T's were just tweaks of things from 1.0I don't think there's been any problem with the tests or treatments, except the dubious logic of placing two unfit (and very entertaining contestants) in the same pod for a running challenge. After all, there were some weak 1.0. challenges (namely the emphasis on stomach-strength and the annoying sound treatment that absolutely no-one quit), but the casting made up for the occasional lapse. Another thing about this season is that the phonecalls have meant we still haven't had a single episode of them actually in solitary confinement yet, which means less soul-searching time and more middle-school-style taunting (which started last season, but worked only because pretty much all the contestants with the best senses of humour except for Leroy made it to the end so it didn't seem as mean-spirited). |

Am I wrong that pain endurance seems to be a much bigger thing so far?
- The rocks were fitness but also pain once you got the shoes off (not that it would have mattered, probably). - The sitting appeared to be pain (with a little strategy on how you sit). - The clips were pain (with a little strategy on which ones you clip). (And I don't understand why fingers would hurt more.) I don't have a very good memory, so maybe there was this much pain early-on in 1.0 and 2.0, but I don't remember it. So anyway, bad smells are the treatment next? Okay, at least that's not pain. RobRob, did you have much ability to stuff more or less skin/fat in the clip? Or were you pretty limited? Intuitively, I think I'd want to put as much skin/fat in there as possible, but maybe not? Also, it seems like moving around could cause your skin to stretch and the clip to pop off. No? |

WHAT A TRIP!!!! Before I went to bed on Friday night, I decided, F*ck it, I'm going to Los Angeles for the kick off for the Solitary v3.0 promotional tour. So, I bought my tickets, tried to sleep for a couple hours, then got up at 3am to get ready for my flight. I took off with no change of clothes, no car, and no place to stay. Once I landed in LAX, I got in a taxi and headed for the Glendale Galleria. The set up in the mall was really cool, so if the tour is coming to a location near you, you should definitely check it out. They had a huge display with two pods attached to it and you could put your friend in it and have them try to solve tests while you watch them and talked to them like Val and mess with the lights and played a bunch of different noises. There were TV screens all around playing the first two episodes of Solitary v3.0. And they were giving away Solitary shirts, hats, rubik's cubes, water bottles, etc… And there was also the "Bed of Nails" from the first season where hundreds of people were giving it a try.
But the best part was meeting my fellow Solitarians from all three seasons:
The first person I saw when I got there was Steve (#7v1.0). He was really nice and he was wearing his Solitary sweatshirt he had made with his mantra on the back. He had fun tormenting me in the pod while I was trying to do the tests. He even did his infamous break dancing right there on the set. I will hopefully have video of that up tonight. However, he had to leave early so I didn't get to talk to him much. L
Next, I saw Leroy Patterson (#5v2.0). We had a lot of fun messing around the set all day. He was really cool and even let me stay overnight at his place so I didn't need to get a hotel and he even took me back to the mall on the second next day and also took me to the airport when I had to leave. I also got to enjoy watching all of his crazy No Mercy Video shenanigans (nomercyvideo.com).
Next, I got to meet Trizz (#6v3.0). He actually lives with Leroy now and he was cracking me up all day. However, I got a little frightened when I was laying on the bed of nails and he cuddled up next to me. Later we were trying to do push ups on the bed of nails. He kept trying to hide the screen when they would show him quitting the first treatment. It was funning seeing him do the same pose from the big promotional displays right next to it.
Next, I got to meet the beautiful Nikki (#3v2.0). She was so nice and funny. However, I had the hardest time in the world getting her to lay on the bed of nails. I really enjoyed talking with her about season 2 from her perspective and hearing about the things that never made it on the show. She tried to get JP (#9v2.0) to come up to the set each day, but he never made it. But she showed up both days and that's all that matters. Later Trizz laid on the bed of nails and Nikki stood on his chest. It was hilarious. I'll have a picture of that later.
Next, David (#9v1.0) showed up and was all too eager to get on the bed of nails and experience something else from his season that he never got to do. And somehow he heard about my tattoo of Val and wanted to take a picture of it.
Next, Deena (#2v2.0) showed up with her children, but her littlest one wouldn't let her lay on the bed of nails. It was really cute how protective he was of her. But they all got in one of the pods together and it was fun filming them from above on the second floor hearing her yell that she wanted to get out of the pod.
Then came the grand arrival of my fellow podmate Andrew (#7v3.0). He was in the neighborhood after a party in Hollywood the night before and hung all of us and watched the second episode. It was fun seeing him again and putting him on the bed of nails. I had a lot of fun being his VAL while he was in one of the pods. Good times.
And the last Solitarian to show up was the infamous Phu (#8v2.0). He's even smaller in person than he looks on the show. He was cracking me up all day. At one point Leroy laid on the bed of nails and Phu laid on top of him. I can't tell you what happened next.
Executive Producer Bob Boden even showed up both days and had fun putting his wife and daughter in one of the pods. He even tried to put her on the bed of nails. He told me Solitary is getting the best ratings ever. Producer Noel Siegal also showed up and tried to get casting director Leyna Raskoff to show up, but she couldn't make it. And there were a bunch of other people that work on the show who made it out and I got most of them on the bed of nails.
I also got a lot of souvenirs, a lot of video, a lot of memories, and I'm so glad I went with my crazy impulse to fly out there last minute. I will post some pictures later tonight and I will also have some video up on my website and my MySpace. |

David randomly showing up <3 It's funny that I can remember more about him than I can about Deena, who I forgot even had kids. |
