Regarding the kids working: They're not working for free; they're working to keep the family in its home and have food on the table. It's called pitching in. Desperate times call for everyone to work together for the good of the family. The brats need to learn the value of a dollar.

There's pitching in and helping the family through desparate times, and then there's indulging the wishful thinking of a crazy father who's in denial. Seriously, when a restaurent gets so bad that you can't make enough money to pay the staff, then it's a sign to close it down. Working in the restaurant for no money might not have seemed so bad if it wasn't so futile. I'm surprised no one's mentioned how Tom, a couple of months ago, had some huge offer to sell the restaurent. I bet they wish they took it now...

However, knowing the characters, I definitely think they acted like spoiled brats. That kid deserved to shoved up against the wall. The boys were acting selfishly - but those lessons should have been taught all along. And where the heck is Kayla? Did I miss something there?

Kayla got sent away after all that bullshit with Lynette a while back. And I'm going to echo what others have said about the kids working there. It was the way the whole thing was handled and Tom never even discussed it with Lynette. He just fired the staff and told the kids they were going to spend every waking hour of their teenage lives working at their father's failing business. Granted, Porter was being a spoiled brat when he wouldn't wait on the kids from school but I still think them working there was akin to slavery! They should have been paid something.

They need to give McClusky and her sister (Lily Tomlin) more screen time and stop forcing unbelievable storylines on Susan and Lynette. Also, i agree with whoever said they'd lvoe it if their friends came to visit them while they were working in a restaurant. I used to work at a restaurant in high school, and my friends would come just so they could get hooked up with stuff from me. Maybe it was the bully who bothered him?

I know a lot of teachers who don't get home until dark especially in the winter when it gets dark at 5:30 PM. They have to prepare for the next day, clean up after that day, attend meetings, etc. My brother & sister-in-law teach & rarely get to go home when the kids do. Not that I'm taking up for Susan. She's still wierd. I'm just sayin'.
