Exactly, Quid. As far as I know, it's widely accepted here that if Yul didn't have the idol then would have finished in ninth place, respectable, but not a million dollars richer.

Anyways, let's start the top 30. And just an interesting fact, of the remaining thirty, nearly 20 involve (a) blindside(s) in some way shape or form, starting with these next two...

































































30. Tracy convinces Joel to save her alliance and blindside Mikey.

I certainly remember the aftermath of this episode when everyone in this place went apeshit in love with Tracy. I don't blame anyone. I kind of did too because this was just amazing. The fans tribe was one of the biggest clusterfucks we've ever seen. They were largely incompetent and inferior to their competition (for obvious reasons, though, but still, they were a mess). The complete distribution of votes in their two TCs shows this, especially when there are three obvious outcasts and instead of even just one of them getting voted out, there's an alphamale struggle for power. You all know what happened. Tracy's alliance was about to be dismantled, but she recognized the alphamale competition between Joel and Mikey, and she got Mikey blindisded.

Reasons not higher: Saving Chet cost the fans one of their biggest challenge assets, and they couldn't predict a swap the next day.








































































29. Sandra, Darrah, and Lill unite to blindside Burton.

If Pearl Islands wasn't the season of the blindside, it was definitely the season of the power-shifts. With Sandra on the outs at the start of the episode, Burton and Jon telling Lill to turn on Darrah, Lill blabing to the other girls about this, and Burton and Jon away on a reward challenge, the women's voting block was formed. I wouldn't really call it an alliance, more like a temporary convenience. Ever since Rupert's blindside, Burton and Jon had been controlling things on the Balboa tribe, and the girls were sick of it. They were the last duo left, and the girls identified this and separated them. A very good decision for them.

Reasons not higher: Burton's blindside was largely his own fault. His failure to secure Lill by either taking her on the reward or promising her F2 cost him the game.

I don't know why a lot say Yul would have gotten 9th. Didn't Jonathan confirm that he was going to side with the Aitu 4 regardless? Which isn't hard to believe, given that his other tribe was, well, Raro. Yul having the HII was just icing on the cake.

As far as I know that's not the case. I was under the impression that he was with the Caucasian alliance the whole way, thinking that Candice was his most loyal ally. But if so, then :0

Either way, Burton's ouster was amazing (both of them).

28. Brian uses Helen and Ted as decoy alliances to get to the end with his goat, Clay.

This entry, in a way, applies to the whole season, but I consider it to mainly apply to three tribal councils: Ghandia's boot, Ted's boot, and Helen's boot. These three votes were the most important (other than the final vote, obviously) for Brian Heidik. Early on in the game, it became clear that Clay was viewed as a lazy fuck by most of his tribe, spared in TC only because of bigger issues, such as John being a retard, Tanya dying of sickness, and Grindgate. Brian, of course, saw Clay as a goat and ensured he was kept around. It looked like Ghandia had a chance to save herself after Grindgate, but oops, Brian had duplicate alliances and used them to oust her, instead. When Ted took Helen on the F5 reward and insisted that they vote out Clay, oops again, Brian used Helen to eliminate a threat to his goat and simultaneously, give himself another jury vote. Twenty-four hours later, Helen received the same treatment because she was a guaranteed jury vote for Brian and a threat for the F3IC, whereas Jan accepted her fate as ending up in third place. So basically Brian used decoy alliances with Helen and Ted to ensure that he would get to the F2 with his goat and have enough jury votes to win, and it worked.

Reasons not higher: Aside from a few exceptions (Brian, and arguably Clay, Helen, Jake, and Shii Ann) the entire Thailand cast collectively had a negative IQ.



























































27. Chris takes control of the game at the F5 and eliminates two threats and likely jury votes for him at the same time.

I've always thought Chris' position in the game was like a bipolar disorder because he went from on the block into control to back on the block then into total control and then into a million dollars. Chris was in the worst position in the game about two weeks before this. He seemed destined to be the final victim of a pagonging. But then the women's alliance imploded, making for an entertaining blindside at Leann's cost. The women hated each other, and after the amazing Queen Ami was voted out by inferior subjects ( ok, yes, I may be a bit subjective ), there was a split between Julie/Eliza and Scout/Twila. As much as this place loves Eliza and Julie over Scunt and Twila, Chris siding with the latter two was genius. Eliza and Julie were huge challenge threats, and supposedly Julie would have slaughtered anyone in a jury vote, but most importantly, they were the two jury votes Chris needed to win the game. Scunt and Twila were no threat at all in challenges, leaving Chris to easily win the F3IC and take Twila, the biggest goat of the season, to the finals. It worked, so yeah, good job Chris.

26. Jenna, Heidi, and Deena recruit Christy to vote off Joanna.

I love just how crazy the original Jaburu tribe was. The divide just couldn't be summarized by old vs. young or hot vs. not. Instead, it's more like old vs. young. vs. cute vs. workhorses vs. alphafemales vs. the sick vs. Christy. It seemed like Christy had problems everyone and vice versa. But Joanna was a threat to the young girls' alliance plus Deena. Once Janet went home, though, this alliance had the majority, but oops, Shawna decided to pussy out. This gave everyone an excuse to vote against a member of the alliance...and the numbers to vote her out successfully. However, to make a long story longer, the alliance knew that Christy and Joanna weren't too fond of each other, so they recruited Christy into voting out their biggest threat. The move worked, and the alliance gained power and would prove to stay very strong (in the short term, at least), and the annoying women were now gone, HALLELUJAH!

Reasons not higher: Christy and Joanna already hated each other.
