That's just a slap in the face to the 24 people who don't make it. They were good enough for the semis and beat out people from Hollywood but they could get beat out for a Top 12 spot by some chump who fucked up in Hollywood. Screw that, with the format this year there's enough people in the semis to choose only deserving wildcards from the 24 eliminated.

They said that about the wildcards in season 3 too, but they never chose outside of the top 32.

Can you imagine how much they have to pay for using that song? Just a few weeks ago, it was the Grammy Song of the Year -- so Coldplay wants everyone to buy their version, not pay to download Matt G's version from the AI site. I get the feeling they're pimping Matt G cuz the AI producers are probably paying more to use this song than any other song sung on AI. (Tho -- I did see Coldplay licensed the song to be used throughout an episode of Medium just a couple of weeks ago, but of course that is their version, not someone else's)

Quite simply, each judge can pick two contestants from the top 36 - from which everyone is eligible - and those eight (or possibly nine) singers will perform a song on the one-hour March 5 show, with three advancing into the top 12. The same rules apply as during the audition phases, with majority picks winning the day and judge Simon Cowell casting the tie-breaking vote should there be a 2-2 deadlock, the spokesperson explained. http://mjsbigblog.com/the-wildcard-is-finally-explained-or-not.htm So I get the feeling "everyone is eligible" means the automatic wildcard spot for the next highest vote-getter is no longer guaranteed?
