67. Joel, Mikey B., Mary, Alexis, Natalie, Erik, Jason

Going into Micronesia, every single viewer was rooting for the favorites. No one was going to give the fans a chance, and I hate the producers for it. If it was a 16 people season, there was a chance the favorites wouldn't eat up all of the air time, but we all knew that the fans would be ignored by the editors and people at home. Fan boys everywhere would be crying if some random nobody beat out their savior. That's exactly why we only got to meet three out of ten fans during both of the first two episodes, Mikey B., Joel, and Krazy Kathy. Before the swap, we managed to see Tracy come out of her shell, but that was it. Every other fan of the game (and yes, every single member of the fans tribe was a true fan of the show except for Alexis and maybe Mary since we never got confirmation from her) was ignored, as all of the screen time was devoted to the random Joel versus Mikey feud. So why would some 7 person failed alliance full of invisible boring people make it this high? Well, I'm the only one in the history of the world to be a Truck fan. Actually, I wouldn't call me a fan, but I liked watching him play the game (at least before the swap where he completely fucked up everything he had going for him by targetting Chet.)

Going into Micronesia, we had a string of five seasons where all strong alpha males could do was talk about how important winning challenges were. They didn't have a strategic bone in their body, and they had no idea what the hell they were doing out there. Then, we get this guy named Truck who is a little demanding and does put alot of stock into challenges, but he does have a strategy and knows what he wants to do (and actually goes through with it unlike some piece of shit who goes by the name of Coach). He wanted to be the man in charge, and he made sure he was.

The majority alliance of 7 was created by all of the younger fans to control the tribe. That left three older people on the outside as easy targets. When the fans lost in episode 2, Mikey B., another incredibly underrated character and player who I actually liked much more than Joel, thought of a plan to get around Kathy's potential idol and split the vote thus assuring the seven of them stay safe. Unfortunately, Mikey overthought the game plan, and it threatened Joel. Since he wanted to be the man in charge, it was time to break up the alliance already and take out Mikey's girl, Mary. The best part of Mary leaving is that it kept another alliance that I will get to later intact, but it also set the tone for a fight between the only two known sane characters.

Mikey left two episodes after Mary's boot, and the shitty alliance left with him. Still, it didn't go without some fireworks, and the fallout helped shift my loyalty away from the favorites. The only problem is that the editors could have done so much more with the fans tribe (supposedly Mikey's boot was originally a 4-4-1 tie that they didn't show), yet they decided against it because Micronesia was about only three people. If you're name wasn't Ozzy, Parvati, or Cirie, you were out of luck.

66. Young Pretty Girls + Deena (Jenna, Heidi, Shawna, Deena)

"It's hard to be that sympathetic because we are saying, 'Shawna, we need you for our alliance.'" -Heidi


This is a very hard alliance to rank. On one had, you have Jenna and Shawna, two people I absolutely despised during Amazon. On the other, you have Deena and Heidi who were both awesome. You have their ingenious gameplan of forcing Shawna to stay in the game, but there's also the disgraceful reasoning for the alliance being formed in the first place. I ended up ranking it here because it was successful, and it helped play a huge role in terms of alliances and moves made later in the game. It can't go any higher because if Shawna didn't want to quit in the first place, the group wouldn't look anywhere near so great in terms of strategy.

As Heidi said, "We are younger and cuter and we have better bodies, and for some reason that is a huge issue with the older people." Because the older people might take offense to being in a game with girls hotter than they are, it was necessary for the three of them to team up and work together. In episode two, the three all easily survived because Jaburu was such a clusterfuck. In episode 4, Shawna was feeling homesick, and she wanted to quit. This led to Jenna and Heidi bringing Deena in and pulling off a great move by putting their differences (of hating ugly people) aside to mutually work with Christy and take out non idol worshipper Joanna. This forced Shawna to stay in the game and stick with the alliance (a move in which Tijiuana pulled off the very next season).

Oh, and another negative thing about this group is that Jenna and Deena dumped Shawna at the tribal council right after their perfect move. I understand the reasoning, and I'm very glad they let the quitter go, there just wasn't much of a point of keeping her in the first place. Joanna would have left in the same way as Shawna, except most likely without the showmance part.

I'll talk about post merge Deena, Heidi, and Jenna working together (and Heidi and Jenna as a pair) when their other alliance shows up.













65. Sean, Vecepia, Sarah, Rob

This is another hard one to rank because, looking back, I liked all four as characters, but I didn't like what they did together as a foursome too much.

First episode, Sean and Vecepia both hate Sarah for being lazy. They cast two votes her away, but Peter leaves. So when Gina, Patricia, and Hunter start talking about Sarah in episode two, you know she's gone once Maaramu loses immunity, right? Nope. Sean and Rob get to talking and decide to work together. Since Rob and Sarah already have one of the most obvious relationships of all time where the pair slept together in the raft and pissed off the rest of the rest of the tribe, and Vecepia and Sean have their bond (which according to Sean has nothing to do with race), the four of them end up working together. They blindside Patricia in a 4-3 vote. I didn't care too much about Mom, so I had no problems with this, but then, the group attacks Hunter and Gina when they go home from camp. Sarah flips out, and Sean also lets them know how he feels. He doesn't like the communication going on at camp. That gave us the perfect quote by Gina. While Sean is busy complaining about not wanting to be told what to do and work in general, Vecepia is complaining about the drama. Sarah is once again targetted, but Rob isn't going to let his girl go home, and Hunter was sent packing 4-2 in a sad episode. I know it makes sense for Rob to keep Sarah, but if there wasn't a tribal swap, Maaramu was the original Ulong, especially without Hunter. They needed him.

The week after Hunter's boot, there was the tribal swap where Sarah was put in what could be considered a worse position than Silas on Boron or Aaron on Zhan Hu. On the new Rotu, Rob, Sean, and Vecepia were swapped into a minority where they were in some trouble. Rob tried to save the entire group, but Vecepia ditched this alliance ASAP and worked her way into the Rotu core while Sean had near given up. The three managed to slide into the merge with a couple big immunity challenge wins and a lucky break from a power hungry nurse, but the alliance was finished. Sarah was gone by the merge, and Vecepia even voted against Rob during his boot episode.

Like Heidi and Jenna's final two, Sean and Vecepia will be talked about when their other alliance shows up, but it didn't play much of a factor in this group's ranking.
